Wright was probably a victim of kids developing, form, Ben King, and maybe the cap. Sometimes players need a new environment to flourish. He couldn't get a kick in the VFL. Some players get out of favour as well. It was better that he left for more opportunity. It happens, has worked well for both clubs. Its also not just on the club, its the player themselves, they need to get the best out of themselves.
In a developing team they chose to play a 27yo Sam Day instead of him, one of the most injury prone and average players in the AFL.

Extremely short sighted as not only was Wright a 23yo KPF coming into his prime, he actually wanted to be there! They can't complain about people wanting to leave, when they get rid of the talented ones that want to stay.

Giving him away for a fourth rounder was possibly the worst decision they've made as a club so far.

They have made some terrible moves in the past Lachie Weller pick 2 and the jack Bowes trade last year.

No, Wright was a victim of poor management. He could have easily played in tandem with King, but instead of being given the opportunity they played a bog average forward/ruck in Sam Day ahead of him.
Then they made the bizarre move of going out and recruiting Chol on exactly the same money and a longer contract after they realised they were lacking in the forward/ruck dept.
All I’m seeing here is excuses and blame shifting for what was another chapter in the Suns history of extremely poor player management.

A bit like Grundy then?

Dunno if Henry is a scumbag but he did what was best for him (which I’m bitterly disappointed about) and while we got Mitchell (sort of) as part of a complicated trade we were not in a good bargaining position with the mangy cats. He’s quite a talent the little p*ick.
I’d say anybody that turns their back on the club for no good reason, is a scum bag…I want to train an hour down the road is not a valid excuse. He can get stuffed.

The Mitchell carrot was too big to let go, otherwise I would have let him walk to the PSD and Gold Coast.

The Suns cap was beyond cooked. They kept putting young draftees on mega bucks from day 1.

Eventually, as has happened with Wright and a few others, they had to cull top end talent to stay within the salary cap.

Also, 2MP was barely getting a kick in the 2's, so he wasn't that hard done by.

Indeed. I see Nick is keeping 35. That kinda slipped through without too much fanfare.
Nah it was mentioned early on in the pre-season. There was a big thing around it, very nicely done. Video and all.

Yeah. Early on Nick stated he would like to keep the number in honour of his dad.
That's when I knew it was his.
