Dan McStay's odds with the TAB for the Coleman dropped from 251/1 to 101/1 off the back of tonight's performance. I had been thinking about putting a $100 multi bet on him to win the Coleman and Dusty to win the Brownlow.

Windy conditions so most struggled imo. More turnovers than a danish bakery.

Plenty of nice little cameos though. Carmy looked v good, Hill busy and dangerous. Noble good. Nicky D everywhere. Cox dominated some aerial contests, couldve clunked even more though. McStay looked the goods again… holding his form from training.
Ryan racked up a few touches too.
Sidey two turnovers in succession trying to be cute, getting caught. Why I wouldn’t be disappointed if he doesn’t make round 1.
Macrae turned it over quite a bit I thought. McCreery intercepted quite a bit. Adams was dangerous up forward… his spot for mine. Oscar limping, strapped shin. Ginni did well while on.
Allan struggled with the tempo a bit.. again why he won’t play straight away imo. Murphy looked a bit slow, out of bounds and getting caught.
Mitchell good, again no cheapies. Just experienced touches in good spots.
Reef kicked a couple of goals. Dangerous on the lead. Lipinski solid

I liked the simile (more turnovers than a danish pastry) similarly I liked the notes: McCreery 😊😊😊

Everything I hear from the reports on Reef and from what we have seen at senior level in the games he has played…he plays not too dissimilar to JDG of the early days.
Very powerful leading forward who can hit the scoreboard.

As he fills out and becomes even stronger he could be a weapon…especially if he can have maximum damage

I like your centre line.

You seriously want Sidey out?

That’s a very exciting write up. Almost too good to be true. The stuff about Joe Richards doesn’t really go with what others who watched said so it’s hard to know what else is hyperbole. I hope the club post some footage. I’m excited to watch the inter club games in the coming weeks. Go pies!!

No idea what this journo is on about. As far as I could see Joe Richards played 90% of the game in the forward line matched up against Ryan. Didn't play at half back as far as I'm aware.

I only saw two and a bit quarters, and spent most of the time looking directly into the sun and being blinded by it, or avoiding it - but it was so good to see the Pies again and to be in a Collingwood crowd. When we can’t lose the game, and the season is full of promise.

On the game, there were some very quick and exciting passages of play. Just like in 2022 - we still have ‘it’.

Bobby Hill has ‘it’ too, is speedy and dangerous. Mitchell is a lock every week. McStay, as others have noted, is wide and strong - he takes up a lot of space and is not easily put aside. His beautiful contested mark at the river end even drew praise from Mr Park.

On our recruiting - we have brought difference and options into the team. We look different, and we
look better.

Genuinely excited for this season.

Some posters felt Richards wasn't quite up to speed which is interesting.
I thought his pace was very evident, just took off, burned J Daicos who was was 10 metres behind him.
