Training: Wednesday July 5th.

Turned up at training. The cars were there, nothing was set out on the ground. The board was up, but had "FIGHT NIGHT" with a countdown for 10hrs and a ha;f time.. which probably would be be around 7ish or so tonight.
I started to think.... what if they're doing a night session to match the night game? Then I thought, the VFL would have to train tonight given they also play on Friday.

Asked some cameramen, and they seemed to think they would be coming out but running late, so I walked around the other side to some friends, then we saw the boys started to walk out. But not onto the ground, through the carpark and around AAMI park, behind it.
That's when I realised. They were gonna be training at Gosch's.

The fans followed the trail...

Once everyone got down there, got on their boots and everything required; they started with the warm ups. they were split into 1st and 2nds. (minus Maynard and checkers who did a running session, Kreuger was walkih around)

Blacks;

  • Lippa
  • JDG
  • IQ
  • Mitchell
  • JDaicos
  • Noble
  • Pendles
  • Adams
  • DC
  • Frampton
  • Hill
  • Crisp
  • Moore
  • Beau
  • WHE
  • NDaicos
  • Markov
  • Howe
  • Cox

Whites;

  • Bianco
  • McStay
  • Wilson
  • Allan
  • Macrae
  • Draper
  • Kelly
  • Ruscoe
  • Sidebottom
  • Ryan
  • Reef
  • Murley
  • Murphy
  • Richards
  • Ginni
  • Harrison
  • Begg
  • Johnson
  • Steene
  • Carmichael

Half way through the session, they split into seniors an reserves, and HH put on the black top, so I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the sub position again.

Same as any other session, they went froim the warm ups, to the kicking drill they like to do.
Then bit of rotational tackling and ball skills
Some goal kicking and contest at either end of the grounds.

Then it was time for some match sim. Umpires were present. Think there was mention that one of the umpires may have umpired Leppa during one of his games at Brisbane. I only heard part of it.

Post match sim, there was just casual things. Once they split up into seniors and reserves, though HH and Mcstay was part of this one group with the seniors. Doing a bit of ball movement activities.

Match sim:

Frampton playing forward.
Beggy in defence v Cox (then on frampton)
Hill on wing

Frampton forward at training would seem to answer my first question regarding selection.

Now to the question of whether we need a defensive replacement for Maynard or with Moore, Murphy, Howe, Quaynor, Noble and Markov we have our main group of 6 and the likes of Crisp, Pendlebury or a Nick can rotate through as the seventh.

I think we're more than covered in defence...

Same for us.

My 14yo wasn’t assertive enough with getting his jumper signed - got a few but didn’t want to bother most of them.

Lined up for Mason for a while and got all the way to the front but a media person told him “2 more” and a couple of girls pushed past him.

Will they do a Captains run at some point tomorrow/Friday? And if so, would that be at Gosch’s too?

We got lucky with positioning.
Got checkers and Bruzzy while they were resting on their laps.
Jordy, Crispy, bobby and Steele on their way through. All lovely guys. Got Mase right at the end (must have been just in front of you).

Few of the boys bit stand offish but understandable. The Daicos boys, Beau and Pendles couldn’t have left faster. Gotta feel for the boys that don’t even get asked for one.

They did last week. JUH has been excellent for them recently

From the moment JUH made a public stand against racial vilification, he has been excellent. Much more consistently damaging. That moment of public courage seems to have been the making of him. Good on him.

Depends on whether all of Lobb, Naughton and JUH play fwd at one time - I'd say there's a strong change they'll at least try it, especially if they see we haven't planned for it.
There’s a few weapons the Dogs have up their sleeve that worry me, but Rory Lobb is not one of them.

Interested to know if Checkers is running or if he's sitting out training? And how Sidebottom/Maynard are looking?

Checkers running. Maynard and sidey did everything
