Howe trained in defence
Kreuger v Howe
Training. Wed August 23rd.
No draper or Murley
- Moore did some drills, then some running. Fly said if there was a game next week he would be right to play, so QF it is.
- Nick did a lot of bike work, walked around a bit. Cheered on the teammates from the side of the track
Initially Krueger and Kelly did running with Moore, but then they joined in for the whole session, so those two look right to go for this weekends' wildcard game v Richmond.
- Howe trained in defence
- Murphy fully trained but he has been ruled out. Decided to take precauton over risking him. Giving him the two weeks off will do him a world of good.

There was a couple loud noises to start the session. One being Nick's U22 captain status, and the other was the boys singing happy birthday to Oscar for his 20th birthday today.
It was great to see Dean doing more and more, and looking very strong. It's so easy to forget what he can do given we have seen so little of it. He'll be like a new recruit come next year, finger crossed he can stay injury free from now on and into next year.
First up they split into the blacks and the whites doing separate contests plays and tackling. Then the whites stayed in one area, but the blacks + Macrae, Dean, Wilson, Johnson, Ginni and Reef partook in some running drills.
Then they went back to their groups where a ball movement exercise was assembled, working through variety of plays and elements. Sharpening up how they want to move the ball.
They worked a lot on defense, pressure and stepping into the player/contest.
Early during the morning they split up into two groups where they went through defending and ball movement. Then they split into the line groups, and a lot of time was focused with the defenders. They would get barked instructions if the coaches wanted something different from them. One of the coaches mentioned to them he didn't want them to hestitate, but come forward and take risks. Be more organised.
The vibe was strong and positive, they all focused on each task at hand as they got to work on the things that they knew had to improved.
Match play was next.
Midfield set up:
Jordy. Crisp. Mitchell v Allan. Macrae. Carmichael
Ginni v Pendles (HB)
Johnson v Frampton
Harrison v Markov
Richards v IQ
Reef v Maynard
Kreuger v Howe
(Sidey v Wilson, Daicos v Kelly wings)
Elliott v Murphy
Mihocek v Dean
Hill v Noble
Adams v Bianco
Lippa v Ruscoe

Cox & Cameron alternated in the ruck. Cameron also played down forward.
Steene was in the ruck on the other side.
At the very end post training, there was some centre bounce work in the middle involving:
Cox/Cameron, Jordy, Mitchell, pendles, Adams, Crisp.
+
Macrae. Carmichael. Allan. Harrison.
Playing him at hb is strange. I felt he looked good whe he was playing midfield mid year. But not looking good at this point. But hopefully he gets another year, even as a rookie. He looked so good pre concussion in the pre-seasonMight be reading into a bit much, but do you think the club has started to part ways with Draper? I feel like his VFL output has come to a grinding halt in the past few weeks.
I agree he looked good. Just didn't live up to it, unfortunately.Playing him at hb is strange. I felt he looked good whe he was playing midfield mid year. But not looking good at this point. But hopefully he gets another year, even as a rookie. He looked so good pre concussion in the pre-season
Bianco has trade capital surely will be for probably late 3rd round or 4thI agree he looked good. Just didn't live up to it, unfortunately.
Our HB depth is: Ryan, Markov (given he's replacing Nick), Bianco and Draper.
Ryan and Markov are safe.
Bianco v Draper to be retained.
The concussion hurt him for being out that long. Has had a few good games when played in the midfield this year.I agree he looked good. Just didn't live up to it, unfortunately.

He wouldn't be delisted if he is to leave. I'd put him at an early third.Bianco has trade capital surely will be for probably late 3rd round or 4th
That's not trade capital, that's free to a good home thingy.Bianco has trade capital surely will be for probably late 3rd round or 4th
One thing's for sure, it will be huge! I remember Grand Final week in 2010! Wow! Crowds were lined up 10-12 deep at Gosch's Paddock.Yeah, I reckon should be thursday. They'll definitely advertise this one as an "open" session, so we'll get a good idea.
I'm sure Fly mentioned in his presser they would all be back at the club on Wednesday for training.Does anyone know if they are training tomorrow morning?
I only ask because I plan on taking the day off and taking the family down to watch like we did the intra club earlier in the year (where I met you and Dak and you had literally no idea who I was lol)Yeah, I reckon should be thursday. haha yeah, sorry about that. You should see the people I interact with that know me, but I have no idea who they are, now.I only ask because I plan on taking the day off and taking the family down to watch like we did the intra club earlier in the year (where I met you and Dak and you had literally no idea who I was lol)
Sounded like from Pendles pod that there may be a session on Sunday too. So assume Wed, Fri, Sun, Tues all normal session and captains run on Wednesday.
Should be humming!
Correct. Except change fri to thur (given they need to train 2 days before the VFL game on sat)Sounded like from Pendles pod that there may be a session on Sunday too. So assume Wed, Fri, Sun, Tues all normal session and captains run on Wednesday.
