I remember him playing really well against us at the G, when the Suns knocked us off by 20 odd points, a couple of seasons ago.

Markov is very agile and fast. Would suit our game style and is obviously highly rated by Fly and Leppa if they've asked him down to train. Would be handy depth and a decent 2's player at worst.

Unless Darcy is training by Australia day he looks like he will miss a few weeks at the start rather than the end of the season when hopefully we will need him, I know they have dodged a bullet with Darcy, extra careful with him.

Watching young Steene beat Beggy pointless in the ruck and do okay against the older rucks I hope we can find a spot for him as Jen said he is not that skinny no stick insect type at all.

Great to hear that Allen is up and about and that HH and Arlo are getting closer to being AFL relevant.

All in all great to hear there should be more depth this year but be very careful with Darcy please,Murphy plus one of Frampton or Dean will have to suffice for the 1st few rds.

That would be a disaster, probably the only place we don’t have any depth at all. Do we think Frampton is being lined up for this?
Anyone making an observation one way or another on a return date after one session back has NFI. My “take” is that he wouldn’t be on the track in any training capacity if he were still in the rectory stage so it’s now about building fitness into the season.

It seems to me, that under rating of AJ is starting to emerge as a massive trend among supporters. (Had a very promising year, upside is massive)

And to me, the Carmichael watchers are a little over excited. (A little bit workaday to my eye. Of course I hope he makes it.)

AJ is 24 or 25 isn't he? I expect his improvement to be incremental, not qualitative.

A mature ager shouldn’t be that far behind because as you said the improvement will be incremental from here. The two others he’s lagging with are 20 yo’s who came to the club under injury clouds one of which is a ruckman…

I think the thing with AJ is that he is far more a footballer than an athlete. Combine that with his relatively poor finals series, fans are asking questions about him. His talent is immense, if he can improve his 2nd/3rd efforts then we have a serious player on our hands.

Agree. No doubt he's talented but sometimes forwards have lean days but you can still put effort in. That Sydney final his pressure was awful. It was hard to watch.

Jamie Elliot wasn't at training as he contracted covid, FWIW.

Wonder if that’s the case for a few of the others missing too. Hopefully Monday they will all be back

Our first few rounds are against all very good teams with BIG KPF stars. Without Darcy we could very well find ourselves sitting on a poor record and already an uphill battle for finals. I hope it’s not the case. It’s horrible timing. On a positive note we at least should have frampton and dean as depth coverage which is more than we’ve ever had. In the past we’ve looked to Madge 😳

Could say Cost us the Prelim

Yes I wondered whether or not they might both be in the team early on if Darcy is missing as Osteomylitis is a very serious condition if not caught in time which thankfully they said they did.

It can still have debilitating effects long after and as I said I would prefer Darcy for the long hall, it feels strange talking about 2 big KPDs.

There was a light session today. Just a skills session for an hour.

Not everyone was there.

Absent:

Elliott
Cameron
Kreuger
Macrae
Dean
WHE
Adams

Moore and Kelly were doing kick to kick, Moore helped out with drills.

Nick in the backline group.

Maynard trained with the mids.

The midfield group was split up into two..

Group 1 -
Bianco, Lippa, De Goey, Draper, Maynard, Sidebottom + Cox

Group 2 -
Mitchell. Allan. Pendles. Carmichael, Josh Daicos, Crisp + Steene. Begg

Nick still with the defenders.

The rucks (Cox, Begg, Steene) did a lot of ruck work with Frasier.
The mids did some dtoppage and centre bounce stuff.
They rotated in groups of 4.

As much as I rate Darc, it’s really exciting to think that maybe by this time next year (earlier hopefully) he won’t be as absolutely crucial as he has been. If we lost him last year there’s no way we get as far as we did.

He’s an interesting one. He started huge. After that I felt like he looked lost or confused out there at times. I hope he comes good, he’s got so much potential and was so excited and grateful for the opportunity.

As I think I am the one with NFI you are referring too let me tell you my Dad has had Osteo in his body for 84 yrs and he can get very run down at times.

Now I know medicine is better these days but it is not something you would want to happen to you if you were in Africa or the South pole it could have lifelong effects.

At least Darcy was out there that is good news .

It depends on whether you made the judgment that he’d miss the first month of the season off the back of one session or not? My take was that you were more inclined to think we’d have a better idea by Aus day? If I’m correct you wouldn’t have NFI.

I also think you misjudged the direction of my post I wasn’t just stating that it could be an early return, but it could just as likely be later because as you said we really have no idea on this one. The only assumption I feel anyone can confidently make after the 1st session back is that the recovery component of his return to footy is done, for now.

FWIW Aus day seems a good guide to whether he lines up for Rd 1 or not. I’d personally be nervous about anyone being ready to go who hasn’t had at least a good 8 week block of training. If we haven’t seen him building on the track by the time the scratch matches roll around in mid Feb we’ll have a better guide on whether he’ll miss the first month or not.
