I too won't be getting excited with Barlow....(yet). Sydney fans DID warn us!!

A good mate with unbiased footy opinions used to refer to Barlow as the ultimate C*** tease. Like the teasers, he'd look good enough to make you drool, promise you the world, get you excited, but when it got down to doing the deed.... only excuses for not performing followed. (His comments were made well BEFORE he ever came to the FFC!).

hooroo.....

Well I think we have all heard that about him But he's what 23/24....so he gets a chance at a new club just like Veszpremi and we all know what a new club can do for a player....lets see how he goes...

Lets not forget Eagleton's first couple of years at the club - he realized he had to put hs head ove the ball or ---- off

Wasn't the fittest bloke in the world a season or two ago, so his improvement in this area is a big plus.

Drafted out of the school system and only played a handful of games with Williamstown reserves in his first season so yes his general fitness and running wasn't great but very understandable.

No doubt OldSchool. I certainly wasn't being critical of him. But I do know that the coaching staff have been very pleased with his attitude and progress.

Any comments on Matt Panos, is he training well, do you think he can crack the side?

Saturdays training session seemed to go off with a hammy strain after chasing Hall on a lead, hopefully nothing

Sounds like Daniel Bandy again, trained the place down, promised lots and gave just about nothing.

Never a truer word spoken.

I've worked at the Swans home games for the last 2 years and seen a heap of Barlow. If he plays 10 games for us we're in huge trouble.

An elite athlete who will always win TTs and look great until the real stuff starts. Fot the Swans 2s he simply runs around in circles, gathering cheap outside touches when they are flogging teams. No hurt factor and still waiting for him to put his head over the ball for the first time, not holding my breath. Soft as butter.

Vez might be OK if he can build his endurance and get his attitude right. Probably intertwined TBH.

That was rookie listed player Eddie Prato who went off in this incident.

Panos is training well, seems to have trimmed down a bit and looks in good nick, not sure he will crack into the team this year, but a good season in the VFL might see him on the senior list for 2012.

Any comments on Jason Tutt, is he training well etc?

He is. He has certainly improved his running abilities (which is usually the case with 2nd year players). Hopefully he shows some good signs through the practice match period.

Any updates on the Hargrave situation? Doesn't sound to promising if some reports are to be believed.

I heard on Saturday that the club will give us an update on Ryan's situation this week sometime. He is on crutches at the minute, but is doing so more as a pre-cautionary measure.

Family friend works as a nurse at hospital where Hargrave had surgery..i asked her what went on...she said " he tried running weeks before he should've and broke bones and undid all the work they did in surgery"
Not good news for Shaggy

Was Barlow ever tried at full back?

He could be our back up if Lake or Morris go down (gulp!) as he has size, strength, weight and speed. His ability to win contested ball on the ground is obviously poor, but how about spoiling in the air.

If he is any good, he could be the only one to go with Riewoldt aerobically if you get my angle...

Sounds like Ablett at Geeelong.

From Sydney fans reports it sounds like he has Everitt syndrome - doesn't put enough body pressure on to be a consistent defender and some suggest he is an outside winger, pure & simple.

Went to training today.

  • Higgins was fantastic, very hard at it and finding a lot of the ball (although posession was a little sloppy).
  • Josh Hill layed some cracking tackles. Really hard at it.
  • Minnow looked very fit and strong. His posession was very clean.
  • Boyd,Griff and Cross getting plenty of it.
  • Liam Jones looked good....I think he'll get more games this year.
  • Picken doesn't seem to realise it's training and not a game....Love him.
  • Morris big and strong. His Missus is pretty easy on the eye too
  • Chris Howard really showing his mettle on the testing 800m runs. Boyd, Gia and Cross leading it out.
Injury update
  • Cooney running laps. No problems there but obviously not ready for the tough stuff.
  • Small peek at Lakey. Kicking a couple of goals from the boundary.
  • No sign of Hargrave.
  • Cal Ward missing some competitive work to do running drills on the sidelines. No idea what that was about.

Thanks BL, good job.

I noticed the same with Higgins on Saturday, lot's of 'flashy' kicks in -board which missed the target. Still he looks in very good shape so hopefully in time he shore's up his disposal and his body stays sound.

I think he will improve his skills, they're bound to be off after last year. It was his fitness that I was concerned about, and that seemed to be on song. His desire was first class......perhaps with a view to a leadership position at the club.

That sounds bad :(:( Sad to hear it but hope Shaggy recovers well.

Shaggy out for most of the yr is a massive loss. I think his a lil underrated here. Was in AA form in 09 playing with a broken foot and 2010 he was down a lil but come on. His been playing 2-3 yrs with a foot problem so he deserved some slack. While Lake and morris are the two key defenders i think shaggy at his best is vital to our defence. Will be missed. Hopefully wood and Williams can continue to improve.
