Thanx for the comprehensive training report B Tron & Phillyroo. Much appreciated. One question: Was the talking UP with the players geeing each other on??

TBH not really.

In my opinion it didn't strike me as a really intense session. The forwards were going pretty light with plenty of banter. The mids were joking around a little at times but getting the job done mostly, rather than fired up so to speak.

They seemed in great spirits actually.... Except Wellsy.
Higgins and Boomer were even throwing footy' over the fence for tradies to have shots at goal, and then taking the piss out of them when they inevitably got no where near it.
The backs in particular were chirpy and up and about.

Yeah despite my post saying the opposite... Hahaha you are right, it was more joking than geeing up.

I went down for 30-40 min at lunchtime. If you work at Docklands anywhere near Southern Cross you can fly out there. I got there door to door in 16 min. Was sentimental doing the walk down Laurens St from the station like I used to do as a kid. Large portions of the area where the Boral plant and Weston Milling are look not a lot different to the early 80's! Was sure this area would have been gentrified and apartment-icised long by now.

Not a lot more than I can than what the others have reported. There was little anger and gnashing of teeth that I could tell. Everyone seemed to be in good spirits. They seem to be treating it as just another week. It is a long season after all.

Watched Garner closely. Looked pretty good to me. Really was struggling with his goal kicking though. Set shot routine looked very rough and he missed almost everything he looked at and seemed to lack penetration in his kicks. Would need to see him again as this may just have been in my mind and there was a lot of wind about.

Wood with the Dolph Lungren late 80's hairdo was really working hard and intensely in a lot of 1:1 work with Gavin Brown. Was berating himself (loudly) everytime he made a mistake. Looked like a man on a mission.

Vickers-Willis is a lot bigger and more filled out than I expected. Looked physically ready for battle to my eye.

Preuss is a seriously massive human. He bizarrely even makes blokes like Wallace look not all that big.

Durdin was the guy I watched most. Just a really silky mover for a guy of his size. A bit like Black but seemingly taller and even more fluent. Great to watch. Look forward to following his career.

How was Lachie and Taz?

I know this is not addressed to me but, Number 6 didn't look ready from what I saw. Taz will play this week I think for Tipp.
I know he's laconic, but that's sad, we really need him fit and firing to push in September. People talk about the importance of Thompson, Grima and Firrito, its the synergistic partnership between Lachie and Thompson that makes us defensively strong.

He'll be back mate.... Patience

Did Higgins and Boomer laugh at Petrie when he was practising shooting for goals as well?

I couldn't get to training unfortunately. Been doing some volunteer work over in Ryobi, Kenya. I tell you what, it puts our round 1 loss into perspective, let me tell you!
I suppose you copped a few stern looks over there.

Shoulda seen one of his shanks.

FFS, it got mo more than 10 meters off the ground and missed the goals by about 15 feet.

Aaron Black was doing his best to make Drew's shots look good from what I could tell as well.
