Travis Boak bats off Cats to stay loyal to Power:Greg Denham
HIGHLY sought after Port Adelaide midfielder Travis Boak appears certain to remain with the Power, with a new deal expected to be confirmed within a week.

Port Adelaide general manager of football operations Peter Rohde was scheduled to fly to Melbourne yesterday to start formal negotiations last night with Boak's management.

It is understood Boak, until recent days, had been undecided about his future, complicated by the pull of a strong "go-home" factor to rejoin his family, who are outside Geelong at Torquay.

It is understood Boak, 23, has decided to remain loyal to his first club, rejecting interest from several clubs in Victoria, with Geelong his strongest suitor.

Damn!

I was hoping to get Boak in a swap for Russell and a third round pick...

Another "if he can't come to an agreement with his club, we're interested" from the Blues. Same story with Cloke.
McKay quotes we're after a power forward and inside mid, yet we're only interested in blokes who can't agree to terms with their respective clubs? Ummm, good luck recruiting anyone with that attitude.
Get some mongrel back into you CFC, our aggressive recruiting in years past was one of the key factors in our successful eras.
No more Mr Nice Guy attitude....nice guys finish.....maybe not last, but lower on the ladder.

Most of this is just circus. Managers whore their players for a better commission. But 9 times out of 10 the player is happy at their work environment and count their current team-mates as best friends.

Do we really want mercenaries that are happy in their environments and will only come across for a 30% pay increase?

Surely we're not having a poke at two blokes Boak and Cloke?
If we landed both it would be a complete joke. We need a CHF so bad that some people on here are about to have a stroke.

Do you think we would have any interest in Stoke?

Could be Denham talking rubbish again but I wouldn't be surprised if the Geelong meeting forced Port to up their offer.

Seemed to be confirmed by JB. We'll live to fight another day, but it slightly concerns me that we are not a nominated club of his.
We need to become that "club of choice" again, like we were all those years ago.

Hawthorn has that title now.

We would have wanted to speak with Boak and I can't imagine that he would have dismissed our advances, or at least wouldn't want to think so.

Has Mckernon resigned with the Crows?
I think we should be having a look at him to be honest, seems to be surplus to the Crows requirements he's got heaps of talent and a Melborne Boy, would slip in well to our forward line......

Based on the fact that our ladder position is going to be lower than expected, we are probably better served drafting a player in the 8-10 range with our 1st pick, rather than giving away another pick, Boak would be a very good player, but we are probably better off looking for players that are starved of opportunities eg Stevens/Mckernan, not convinced Boak would be the difference taking Blues to top 4, personally think Caddy may have more upside.
