Trent Cotchin is the best player in the AFL

Our seasons been over for weeks. He's not the best but he's top 5.

Ablett, Franklin, Swan, Pavlich, Judd.

There's 5.

Pendlebury, Selwood, Mitchell, Riewoldt, Watson.

There's 5 more.

He isn't in the top 10. He will be at some point, he isn't there yet.

That leaves Ablett, Watson, Pendlebury and Buddy.

I'd say Cotch is top 5.

Better than Pavlich, Swan and Selwood? Really? You could just about argue that he's been as valuable to his club as some of those three have been to their side (maybe..), but there's no way he's clearly been better. Mitchell is still underrated in general too.

Cotchin reminds me of Ablett for a number of reasons - not the least for the way in which he handles the pressure and attention as if it isn't there.
The way he moves when he runs, the balance and composure that he has makes me think about little "Gazza".
Yes, I know that is a very big call because we know how good Ablett is, but I think the comparisons are justified.

if telling yourself that cotchin is the greatest player ever makes you happy i say enjoy it. but us in the real world when we discuss great midfielders i believe the names of ablett, bunton, skillton, judd, mathews, stweart, williams, voss, harvey, bartlett, swan, rose, goodes, hird, buckley, barrasi would be first on the list

He is a fine player. not the best. gary or buddy for me. as an aside i heard he got 3 votes for the freo game from 3aw. talk about home cooking. freo dominated that game and no way cotchin was best on ground. sure had stats but effect was not bog material. at least cotchin is generally damaging with the ball in hand. jobe watson on the other hand is not a game breaker. it would be sad to see a accumulator like watson beat cotchin for the brownlow

No we don't, because the figures you used earlier in the year were actually wrong. Boyd and Pendlebury were above Cotchin at the time of your original thread.
