What a totally bizarre defence.

One of the weirdest defences of all time.

"It was totally reasonable for me to brace for contact and clobber a player in the head with my hip after charging into the contest late and high to an open field contest I had plenty of time and space to appreciate before committing to my course of action."

I can't believe some of the bullshit emanating from Victoria around this incident - except that it's such a pattern.

The latest from Daniel Harford (f**k knows why he's "launched an impassioned plea" - according to SEN).

“Players now put themselves in such precarious and dangerous positions when attacking balls. It’s reckless, it’s Cavalier because they know that they can put themselves in that vulnerable position because any contact is going to lead to a free kick.

“They put their arms out, they lead with their heads, there’s no protection of the body, there’s no way they are looking after themselves – let alone the opponents – in those situations. It’s seemingly incumbent upon the alternate competitor in that situation that’s not going to get the ball first, which might be one one-millionth of a second if you’re second to it.
"

I think it's BS to be calling this "leading with the head". His arms were out in front of him, he was bent over going for a ground ball. I didn't have his arm's trailing behind him superhero-style, and attempt to headbutt the ball.

Guess what Harford - the head-bone's connected to tha ... neck bone. The neckbone's connected to tha ... and so on. So yeah, put your arms out to control a ground ball, and you can expect the head to follow in short order. Or is he calling for people to stop attempting to go for groundballs? :D

At the risk of sounding like Ed Langdon, that’s bordering on contact below the knees.

Aaaah The Crows, perpetually discriminated against when it comes to the tribunal
It's a conspiracy I tells ya !
To be fair.. just like all the other ones, how the hell does that tackle warrant a suspension

If they dont fix this quickly no one will tackle anyone soon. Might as well put tags on their shorts and call it Tag AFL

Typical AFL shit****ery. Don't overturn a dangerous tackle suspension all year then go soft on it in the blink of an eye.

The tribunal is a meme it’s so absurdly inconsistent

Didn't realise the Cerra suspension that was overturned was when Hickey hit his head.

Remember when Peps was suspended for pulling down McEvoy who hit his head and we had a three hour brawl at the tribunal hearing to overturn the decision?

Reminded me of that except Peps didnt even swing him around in a tackle just pulled him to ground.

No wonder we don't want to go to the tribunal.

So Hugh Jackson gets hit around the head misses the next week and the player with the cheap shot not even reported! Is there a more corrupt organisation than the SANFL

Just imagine the mass discombobulation if an AFL player got three weeks for calling a campaigner a campaigner...
