What are people's thoughts on Depeche Mode? I love them and Personal Jesus/Strangelove are classics but there are a lot of people I know who have an ungodly amount of hate for them.
If you know "a lot of people" who don't like Depeche Mode you're hanging out with the wrong people. An amazing band who do great music. I have literally no idea how you could hate them

Well got the trainee bus driver.
Instead of going onto main nth from Mawsons lakes into town he has somehow managed to get onto sth rd. Thats about three wrong turns.

80's AC/DC dads, metal heads who get really defensive when you play Stripped and say the band who made it influenced metal a shit tonne (true story) and types of that sort.

Pretty much think of it as the "mob of girls/this shit is gay" crowd.

why i like metalcore

when those bands first started popping up, they had that whole DIY punk thing going on, stayed away from major labels but still wore their metal influences on their sleeves. cave in had a metallica medley on the last track of beyond hypothermia. the whole hardcore thing was going through this douchey, tough guy phase but these bands stayed away from that. with the hardcore scene there was this part of it that was all about being a hardass who can swing the hardest in the circle pit and who's got the biggest X's on their fists. at the same time you had nu-metal taking off and being hugely commercialised jumble of nonsense, these guys were keeping it real. plus converge is probably my absolute favourite band of all time. i picked up jane doe at the marion RSL club at some punk gig in about 2002. seminal influence on the developing mind of 19 year old sobrave

Converge have been my favourite band since I bought When Forever Comes Crashing in '98. Them and their cohorts (Cave In, Coalesce, Dillinger etc) are just hardcore to me though. Metalcore's definition kinda changed in the BMTH era

I used to dig unclean vocals alot, but now I probably favour bands with a blend of the two. Clean vocal chorus is pretty important for me these days as far as metal genres go.

I think that probably ties in a little bit with all my favorite bands going a little bit more clean as they got older.
