There's an interesting thing where people most likely to say we need to accept everybody's differences, are the most likely to be absolutely ******* gobsmacked that people like different things.

Yeah ****in lefties are supposed to accept everyone, that means you can't have an opinion on something that has absolutely no effect whatsoever.

Lol he can do what he wants obviously...
But I just don't understand why you wouldn't take leave? Does he like work that much? Even just sitting around at home sinking piss watching sports is more fun than work.

And the risk of saving everything up so you can go bonza retirement... Well.. yeah.. if you don't die in the meantime, or become unfit/unwell and unable to do anything.

He doesn't drink and he likes St Kilda....so he doesn't watch sports either.

He literally has a week off every month. That's 12 weeks a year. Three months a year. Sure, it isn't all in a row, but for some people, that's enough. When he's at work, he isn't always 7 day weeks either. He'll have blocks of days off between shift changes, etc.

Implying you can't go anywhere on a week off? He's hardly missed a concert he's wanted to go to, seen every band that's come to Aus he's wanted to... Well at least until covid.

International travel doesn't interest everyone (fancy that! I supposed those people will be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes?) And he's already seen plenty of Aus in his youth travelling around then.

Also he's only been employed for 20 years. He spent 10 years before that on Centrelink after losing his job and spending time at home when my old brother died in the late 80s.

I'm surprised they let him bank up that much leave, most places have schemes to bring your balance down so you're not a massive liability when you leave and they need to pay out a year all of a sudden.

The other risk is what if the company collapses and ya end up losing all that leave because they're under administration?

I mean studies have empirically shown that taking a break is good for your mental and physical wellbeing. Think you should have a chat to the old fella.

Sometimes you go to Adelaide, sometimes you go to Sydney.

When it didn't, he didn't take leave, he swapped weeks with other fellas, so maybe he'd five six on then have two off.

Fair call. It was just the way things always used to work out for me.
I remember constantly whining about how things never lined up with my roster days off. I hated being on nightshift over Easter or Christmas. Hated it.
I feel like a real person again. Dont get me wrong. Mining was great money, its set me up for life. But I couldnt shift work anymore, I ran out of steam.
I love being home everyday at 4 in the arvo. Friday nights are a thing now, looking forward to a weekend.

Mining companies are pretty well tied up in EBAs and unionism.

At his age he has one eye on voluntary redundancy anyway, so he'll get a hefty payday if that happens.

What's a good frequency for a Donald Dickie? Once a quarter? Once every 6 months? Once a month? Once a year - surely not.
I think for a non illness Donald once every 3 to 4 months

I'm more impressed by #ARSFUL
The entire list sounds like the names of pubs or a food.

Just popping down to the Trossard and we will then drunk walk to the Ramsdale
