You've gotta break that habit. Your work doesn't give a s**t about you. If you die tomorrow they'll be recruiting to replace you within the week. * em. Take your sick leave and play Vidya games

As per the British Medical Journal:

Sh¡tting ‘international roast’-coloured water while Battletoads is on pause,

[GREATER THAN]

Sh¡tting ‘international roast’-coloured water while en route to salvation after wasting precious time raising your hand to ask teacher for the privilege

I only flex on taking sick days cause it means i can afford them as i pay my own wage haha

Oh yeah for all the campaigners that brag about never taking sick days and infecting all your co-workers... There's no reward or recognition for that. No one cares. You don't get a medal. You're just screwing yourself over. Take your sick days. Be at peace
Yes there is

Like eight months of sick leave built up

One day I'll just go have some mental health issues and take a year off

You get sick leave working as a part time occasional extra?

... I have no idea what you actually do
If I could afford a house four cars two kids and a currently at home mum on very infrequent film work wages I would pretty much be in Nirvana

But like, the actual one

Not the depressing band

I've got 6 months plus sick leave built up.

If I'm sick I'll use them but never take "sickies" if not sick.

Get too guilty.

I don't brag about it but it's handy to have if one day I get really sick (touch wood)

*When I was casual I had to have knee surgery and couldn't work for a month and didn't get paid, it sucked. Maybe that's always in the back of my mind?

i definitely take the odd sick day and had 2 weeks off for covid, and i've still got 400+ hrs of "personal leave" banked up.

there is a guy at work who manages to use every last day of it lol, sick kids usually about once a week or so

My dad has about four thousand hours of leave

As a miner who has like, a week off every month, which is really a lot less than most in the industry, he sees no reason to ever take leave.

Yeah why would you ever wanna go anywhere or do anything when you can just live your life doing the exact same thing for 40 years

Different strokes I guess

I worked in mining for 30+ years, left last year with absolute zero sick leave. I'm so glad i did. Absolute campaigner of an industry.
The old adage you're just a number really applies.
5 day a week dayshift job now. 7am - 3.30pm. I'm as happy as a pig in shite, my body clock feels like nothing Ive felt in many years. Its sensational.

Implying you can't go anywhere on a week off? He's hardly missed a concert he's wanted to go to, seen every band that's come to Aus he's wanted to... Well at least until covid.

International travel doesn't interest everyone (fancy that! I supposed those people will be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes?) And he's already seen plenty of Aus in his youth travelling around then.

Also he's only been employed for 20 years. He spent 10 years before that on Centrelink after losing his job and spending time at home when my old brother died in the late 80s.

His one week in four lined up with every concert? I missed shit loads of stuff being 8 days on 8 days off.

There's an interesting thing where people most likely to say we need to accept everybody's differences, are the most likely to be absolutely ****ing gobsmacked that people like different things.

Sometimes you go to Adelaide, sometimes you go to Sydney.

When it didn't, he didn't take leave, he swapped weeks with other fellas, so maybe he'd five six on then have two off.

Yeah that was a culture issue at my old workplace

Didn't help when the director would suggest people need a teaspoon of cement in their coffee if they called in sick and other managers claim to never be sick (selective memories)

Lol he can do what he wants obviously...
But I just don't understand why you wouldn't take leave? Does he like work that much? Even just sitting around at home sinking piss watching sports is more fun than work.

And the risk of saving everything up so you can go bonza retirement... Well.. yeah.. if you don't die in the meantime, or become unfit/unwell and unable to do anything.

Director sounds like a campaigner, I'd come in sick deliberately and schedule a 1 hr meeting with him in the smallest room possible
