I've got the PS5 (disc version) and Xbox Series X. Would love to get into PC gaming and can afford to, but I find the cost of getting something really good off-putting.

You can make ya own PC relatively easy 🤔 or get one made up for ya at a decent price... Stay away from Harvey Norman and all those kind of joints .. they will charge ya twice as much.

You could have got something pretty good for the cost of the ps5 and xbox
How often do you have to get a new PC because the old one's become outdated though? That's a genuine question by the way - I'm coming from a position of ignorance here.

Upgrades have slowed down, if you don't need the absolute bleeding edge you can easily go 5 years or so these days. If you buy a high end graphics card you can go longer as well.

That sounds reasonable. Might have a look into it at some stage. Would look at getting one made for me rather than going through a chain store - dirty2 mentioned above that they charge a lot more.

My current PC is actually 7 years old, all original parts. I did pay about 4-5k for it though. Can still play recent releases like cyberpunk etc on reasonable detail level, starting to slow down now though. Probably less than 6 months before i go new.

Feels like graphics tech has slowed down heaps

Yeah. Ive got a 980 STRIX OC. There are bits and pieces on newer cards like ray tracing but the biggest difference is memory really.

The flagship Nvidia graphics card is now the RTX 4090 which go for ~$3300 alone.

later this year hopefully some more reasonable mid range cards come out.

Its all about DLSS, Ray tracing and 4K now.

I got mine built by "aftershock" when I got mine done 2 years ago... But have a look around should be some good after Xmas deals I would imagine.

Harry snippets that I've seen on the news:

  • killed 25 people, most soldiers don't keep track but apparently he'd rewatch his combat footage to keep score.
  • was traumatised by watching Meghan's sex scenes as an actress, so now needs electro shock therapy
  • his knob froze in Antarctica

I got mine from pccasegear years ago. More or less amounted to the sum of the parts.
