Did you also think gay marriage would lead to people marrying their cousin or their dog?

Even if you were right about any of this, I'm still yet to see why 'some people want to abolish Australia Day entirely' is a good argument to keep Australia Day on a date that marks the beginning of a genocide.

No, because that's nonsense. There are already people forming movements with the aim of abolishing Australia Day altogether. It isn't nonsense. It is reality. It is already happening, and nobody reasonable is going to tell them that that is a silly thing, but rather just let it continue keeping on, growing. Those movements are ONLY growing. People who believe these things don't just, stop. It's their battle. They won't give up fighting and campaigning. Some who practise this are in government. One is a senator. Can't you see the difference?

Ain't no ****ing pro incestuous beastiality groups ever had such a platform.

And for second part, when I see a date that can unite close enough to everyone, do it. You know what I haven't heard? Any sort of unity from Aboriginal people or pro change people of any other identity on what that date should be. You want change? Propose it. Don't just ask for half of something and leave the rest up to everyone else to figure out. Until then, there isn't a better suggestion (and nothing you suggest, ie, saying anything not the 26/01, is gonna cut it).

And for the love of God, anyone saying whatever it is, it better be a public holiday at a time of year convenient for them, who cares any sort of cultural significance or sensitivity, please get back on the boats and piss off forever.

There are lots of suggestions out there from the Federation date to literal puns (May 8) and plenty in between. Expecting “unity” on the exact nature of a change is unrealistic and rarely happens on any issue. That’s why we vote.

Ha so my work offers all employees to trade out or swap any public holidays for days that suit their cultural beliefs

So I can have Australia Day whatever date I want and I can call it whatever I want

I’d 100% trade something like Adelaide Cup or Labor Day for Festivus.

Do they love celebrating the founding of the penal colony of New South Wales or do they love celebrating the foundation of the Commonwealth of Australia?
I too have Greek relatives. They loved celebrating the founding of the Penal Colony of NSW. My now departed Papou would dress up as Captain Arthur Phillip, drink rum and sing sea shanties whilst playing his bouzouki. We'd have a leg of Aboriginal and a leg of Irish on the Souvla, to cater for those that liked dark and white meat, great days. I can't believe the woke want to take that all away.

JESUS CHRIST PAPOU WTF HAVE YOU DONE?!

- What? You said you wanted a massacre!

MOUSSAKA! I SAID MOUSSAKA!

Because people always accept the result of a vote, no question, and votes are always done with respect and thought to those who the result will affect the most, like in the voice recently.

If you think the most important people to listen to about this are Aboriginal people, then what is the date they are suggesting?
