I think that American Psycho's controversy was at the book release more than the film

(Not fact checked) I am sure that ironically Christian Bale's step mother was behind the push against the book's release
The book is rough going, but I read it in a day and a half.

Probably the most impactful book I have ever read, and it has changed the way I read books, and how I think about a number of issues.

Here I am in this community hall full of neckbeards and bogans trying to spot a silver jacketed Magpiespower

Haha, wearing the old school baby blue adidas jacket with navy blue three stripes today.

Seems bigger this year.

The dad using his kid as a human shield to barge through to the front of stalls can gagf.

Roger & Linda spotted me, ffs.

They’re two of the (too f@%king many) avid Hot Wheels collectors who bail me up at work every Thursday night when the weekly shipment comes in. Linda was trying to give me her phone number again so I can ring them when the Hot Wheels box comes straight off the delivery truck.

Can’t do it, Linda. Not because of my bosses. Because your arch-rival David, who when not raiding Hot Wheels off supermarket shelves is chatting up checkout chicks at The Reject Shop. Ain’t getting on the wrong side of that guy.

Dat Mormon temple next door is pretty flash farken...

God I hate flat packs with passion.
probably doesn't help when you're starting to get arthritis.

I read it and enjoyed it (sort of)

I tried reading one of his other books, the informers and couldn't really hack it. Something about pedophile vampires or some such. Just made me feel dirty(2) reading it

He's very insightful on Huey Lewis.

So what’s your take on the whole ‘it’s just in his head’ thing that the movie ran with?

I read the book when it first came out and then again after the movie was released and both times I took it that he did do all those things but got away with it because of the indifference of the people around him. Which is the true horror of the story.

I didn’t mind The Informers either but it was a very different type of story.

I never considered it being all just in his head until I read up on Wikipedia (or maybe a discussion board?) long after I'd read it

One of the few books I've read that I hated reading but couldn't put down.

Also read Lunar Park by the same which was a much more enjoyable read but a totally flawed book
