IMO Scully was BOG. Blease should have been in the best 3.Millard and Hood in the "best players"also. I think Vic Metro should've had a best 10. SA a best 2! It was very one-sided.Scully and Cachia spent plenty of time on the bench. Vic Metro's rotations were brilliant. SA looked tentative and intimadated.
Game 2 was a Carbon copy. I reckon King was the BOG. Very,Very good runner.

hey pero, just want to know how my nephew hoody went? where did he play? and how did he go against w.a. aswell?

Yes, T. Hood is extremely good. I only saw Metro's game 2 vs SA. He's pacy, skillfull, classy. Say no more.

Went OK in the first game against S.A. Missed a couple of shots on goal. Was one of three who didn't play in the second game.

I thought he was pushed off the ball in a contest too easily. Looks like there plenty of potential though. OK is probably a bit kind.I thought he struggled. Conditions should have suited him, delivery to Lowden was ok, But he's a bit slight. As I said the potential is there. And I reckon he'll fill out and be a good footballer.

Feedback on Talia, Lucin and Rayner would be very much appreciated.

These 3 all played great football. These 3 plus Witkowski were VM's backline against WA and played their guts out. Wita is the only one to have played backline football going into this comp. Apparently the other 3 have never played backline until now and what a job they did.

It would have been good to see Rayner play on the wing a bit to see his athletic ability show through and Lucin on ball as this kid really has some pace.

Unfortunatley Wita (broken arm/shoulder) and Talia (suspected borken foot) both suffered bad injuries and were unavail for yesterday's game. There was half the VM backline gone.

Approx a months time.

IMO VM's best three for championships were Scully (MVP and played great captains football), Tobin and Blease.

Steele Sidebottom was MVP for Vic Country and well deserved.
cachia for metro? i saw he was in the best players twice, once BOG. are the scholarships baced purely on these performances in the carnival or other various competitions such as TAC cup etc.

I was unaware that Cachia got a BOG. IMO Scully was clearly BOG in every game. The bests in the Herald Sun paper seemed to differ from what coaches gave after the game. Cachia was very good in second game.

No, scholarships are not purely based on this comp. The best player could easily miss out if they (AIS) do not think he has the ability to go further. Take Dylan Joyce for example - He won MVP last year and did not receive a scholarship. Attendance at this carnival is certainly preferred but not essential and a player can be nominated by a state manager. Attitude and commitment also play a big part.

that could play a huge factor in a couple of examples...

dylan joyce fair enuff, the guy is way too small. fantastic skills but needs desperatelly a growth spirt quickly.

No-one here has mentioned Michael Walters...clearly the standout of the carnival (alongside Scully).

Walters put in one of the best individual games on the final day with almost 40 disposals and 4 goals against SA. A classy left footed indigenous talent, he's certainly one to watch out for.

I thought Gysberts was pretty disappointing until the final quarter of the last game. He kicked two crucial goals when Country were challenging and finished the game clearly his side's best in the final win - but given all the hype on him I thought Scully and Blease stamped themselves in all games and are the best prospects from Metro.

I was lucky enough to be at the tournament and see the majority of the games and the following players stood out to me, but I'm not talent scout.

Kieran King DOB 05/03/1991, HT.181 cm, WT.80 kg (East Fremantle, WA)- Gun midfield/wing player which already has a strong body on him and speed to burn. He was able to rack up possesion and kick running goals from 50 out. Was one of the players that almost got WA over the line against Metro in game one of div 1. A real natural talent.

Hugh Greenwood DOB 06/03/1992, HT.185 cm, WT.80 kg (Lauderdale, Tas)- This kid is a bit lanky and needs to bulk up, but he was still able to crash packs and take strong contested marks. In the third game of the tournament he tore NSW apart kicking 3 goals in the second quarter. Not only did he kick them from set shots, he was able to crumb the ball and take snaps over his shoulder.

Rory Thompson DOB 12/03/1991, HT.195 cm, WT.78 kg (Southport, Qld)- Another tall forward standing at 195 cm. Again was able to take strong grabs on the lead under physical pressure from several players. An accurate kick and was able to roost goals from outside 50, keeping in mind these boys are still only 16.

Corey Millard
DOB 11/05/1991, HT.191 cm, WT.86 kg (Dandenong/Berwick, Vic Metro)- Big bustling CHF and still has time to fill out. This kid was able to crash packs, take marks and contest the ball on the ground. Had a tendency to be in and out the game at times but I thought he was very Jonathan Brown'esk.

would be interested to hear your thoughts on Walters (WA) Scully (VM) Sidebottom (VC) Blease (VM) Wilson (SA) Cachia (VM) Ziebell (VC)

Thoroughly enjoyed the carnival, even though NSW/ACT got thumped in every game, but no good worrying about it. I know my young bloke had a great time and learnt heaps.
Just a query and would love to hear others thoughts.
All games were 20 minutes plus time on, therefore most quarters were about 30 minutes, very big ask on all players to play 3 games in 6 days on rock hard grounds in fairly warm conditions against quality teams.
