PLAYERS IN RED ARE THE PLAYERS THAT HAVE BEEN CUT FROM THE SQUAD

Not 100% sure but i think this is the squad. Feel free to update it with anyone else that is unable to play or has been taken off the list.

There are a couple of names missing off the list:
M. Scott - Eastern
J.Walsh - Northern
and the unnamed #57 - was this Bastinec.

Are these boys in or out?

I was lead to believe 30 to be the number named.

The AFL says you have to name a squad of 30, but the squads to go away are only 25 players. If anyone is injured once they have put the list in, they can top up their list from the extra five named with the AFL.

Roos very stiff to be cut
Barnes will run and run and run all day long and is very very quick. I played with himlast year and is easily the best player i have played with through my junior career.

Roos stiff your joking i dont think he is up to it he was smashed by the vic country b side didnt get a kick . Very overated for mine

I attended the 1st trial game day at vic park and the 2nd day of the metro championships and from that this is my team, hopefully it will start some banter!

B:M.Thompson D.Grimes M.Woods
HB: Purcell Witkowski J.Cachia
C: Barnes Scully Simcoe
HF: Talia Fitzpatrick Gysberts
F: Castricum Millard Hood
Foll: Hill Lucin Blease
Bench: Smith-whitting (injury concern, did not play Wednesday), Tobin,Walsh,Melksham,Rayner, and for the last spot I think it either depends on whether watts plays, if he does he will be in there but if not I Think Burnage may get the nod

I'd agree Hooper or Ziebell. for country with Ziebell being the obvious of the 2 as Hooper is not as much of a team player
Only Scully for mine for metro Watts if he wasnt injured.

maybe he jus had a bad game mate we all have them....
he is isnt overrated if anything he is underrated

maybe just havent seen it at all.look the kids got a great build for a footballer and his skills look good ..There a long way to go yet so hopefully he'll keep developing and turn out a champ . i didnt mean to sound as if i am bagging him Look all these kids are good footballers and each have the potential to go on they have 2 years to develop and as we all know a lot can happen in 2 yrs.

I'd say Scully.

Aren't Cachia & Melksham still considered one of the 5 on the injured list and have to prove themselves on Sunday before the final 1 person is cut?? Cachia broken finger and Melksham still carrying a hamstring injury. Passing this Cachia could be a vice captain but personally I don't think Melksham has captain skills.

The squad has been cut to 26. Delete Wallace, Simcoe and Walsh from Knights, not sure who the other is. See Knights website.

John Butcher out of Country team with stress fractures in his back. How great an impact on the team??

Is anyone going to the game tomorrow between Vic C and NSW?
A report on some of the NSW guys (against this opposition) would be appreciated, I know this is a country/metro site but our boys dont play you guys too often, would love to know how my son goes from an unbiased view. The game is at Warrawee Park in Oakleigh at 11 am

Yeah I'll probably be dropping in for a look.

Should be interesting, I assume many of the NSW guys will have scholarship attachments though.

One sided contest today
Vic Country 15 13 103
NSW/ACT 5 4 34

NSW/ACT goals come from scholarship players in Jones and Strudwick who kicked two each and Hamilton kicked their last inside the final minute of the match.

I thought the boys did pretty well to get that close. The gap in standards and application is huge, most of the NSW team dont come up against opposition like this, that is why it is important for our boys to be exposed to them as often as possible, and to teach them that footy is not just about winning the ball and trying to deliver it. Working the other way is foreign to most of them and they are not put under that kind of pressure on a regular basis. I think it is great for their development.
