I've checked the odds and it is Silva $1.12, Cote $6 but I just have this funny feeling that Cote might be able to knock him out. I know it all points to Silva but he has already said he is retiring in 09 and may just have one foot out the door?

I cannot see it happening. $1000 on Silva to get $120 profit back is probably a good bet. Stranger things have happened, but I just cannot see Cote lasting 3 rounds let alone 5.

No one can see this happening. Silva is just too good. The only man I can see getting close to beating Silva is Bisping but he is definitely not ready yet. Bisping's conditioning has improved immensely in the past year but he still drops his hands when he kicks and Silva would absolutely nail him like he did Irvin. Silva has the best footwork in mma. He works the angles so well and looks effortless when he just steps to the side to avoid an opponent's attack.

Fair enough, it's a feeling rather than logic. Silva is another echelon above but I just think Cote might get a lucky one in...that is the only way he could win.
Bisping is getting close. I think he fights Leben soon which will be an interesting fight.

If Bisping annihilates Leben you'd have to think Silva would be his next opponent.

I think Bisping needed another fight at 185 just to get comfortable. He looked very impressive last time and destroying Leben will give us a good idea of how far Bisping's come.
As much as I like Cote, zero chance. Silva is a machine.

Who do you suggest Silva fight before Bisping? We're not saying that Bisping will beat Silva but he looks the most impressive of all the contenders and is improving with every fight. You do know that Franklin's gone up to 205 right? He got his arse kicked by Silva (like everyone else at 185) and doesn't see himself having a future as a middleweight. Some may see his move to 205 as being a more natural weight for Franklin while to others it looks like he's running away from Silva.
Yeah what GD was saying. He not the best contender at 185, but you just can't have Silva vs Franklin every match. Would have liked to see Bisping fight Hendo to see who goes next but the 185 title is due.

All the commentator hype aside, Slice is an MMA sideshow at best. Unlikely to happen.

the point is i doubt anyone expected kimbo to be KO'd in 20 seconds, anything can happen in a fight and personally i think cote is very underrated so i give him a chance.
No doubt, Rampage v Iceman also proved that. It's possible, but so is winning the lottery.
The list is pretty short who have a reasonable chance (up to 40%) of beating Silva - they are:
Meia, Parhales, Hendo (who's got a smaller and smaller window as he's getting old) and perhaps Paulo Fihlo.
Then there are a few with a 25%
Bisping, Marquart, Rich, Robbie Lawler and Okami (there styles just dont match up well)
And the rest are pretty much screwed...

I suggest he fights a rematch with Hendo before Bisping. If not he should move to LH so we can watch Franklin come down to MW again
.But seriously,many great match ups for Silva at LH.

I'd have Bisping a better chance than 25%.
Obvioulsy the brain says that Silva will win easily but I just have a feeling about Cote for some reason...we'll know in three weeks I suppose.
BTW, Couture should beat Brock Lesnar shouldn't he?

Speaking with mag today so I wont claim the idea as my own but I agree with him. It comes down to styles. Bisping's best weapon is his stand up, so he would have to take him KO or TKO after a knockdown. Unlikely given Silva's ability and he has no chance on the ground. Silvas BJJ is good but not great hence why the ground guys at 40%. Cote is reasonable in all areas so probaly doesn't have the weapons IMO. THat's not to say he's no chance, His game plan would be get him on his back asap and hope to GnP a dec.
Leasnar is a real shot. Randy hates wrestling with bigger dudes. Has to keep it standing and gas him in the dirty boxing. I think he should do it but wouldn't be suprised with a lay and pray win to Lesnar.
