It's not actually that cold for a winters night. If we don't get a half decent crowd it's because people have tuned out.
Very likely to be a one sided loss against the clear best team in the comp so not going to be a huge draw beyond those who always go. Finals not on the agenda, easy one to miss.

If we flip our recent form on its head in the space of one week and win, which I have a strange feeling we will. Wouldn't that be a stronger case to sack the arseh*le than if we just put in our usual steaming turd performance and get smacked off the park?

I really can see us winning this and carrying on like pork chops over the bye saying we're back baby! Only to get reamed by GWS.
Taking the premise seriously, definitely not. If Adelaide were to beat Sydney it would support a view that losses to Hawthorn and Richmond were outliers and the previous games against West Coast and Collingwood were a more realistic indication of where the team is at - plus it would support the idea that injuries are a big part of the issue as we'd be winning on the back of Rankine and Murray as ins.

Sydney would be a big scalp, it would be a huge positive for Nicks to beat them. Unlikely outcome though, Sydney are a good team.

Sydney would be a big scalp, it's certainly a huge positive for Nicks to beat them. Unlikely outcome though, Sydney are a good team.

I simply can't rationalise how we lose to a total rabble in Richmond at home and a week later beat the best team in the comp by a mile.

I would be beyond stunned...

It's supposed to be a warmer than average winter in Australia, but must only be for the centre of the universe that is Sydney because it's cold as **** in Melbourne.

I agree, I think it would be a stunning result. Just responding to the argument that somehow it would be a bad thing for Nicks if we did win.

I think you have missed the point of my post. I was actually Implying that our horrible losses this year are due to a mix of lack of effort and terrible selection policies. The team turning it around and winning because the have been smashed by all and sundry this week would absolutely prove that Nicks doesn't know how to get the most out of them on a consistent basis and that they only give 100% when the pressure is really applied to the club.

I'm tipping a lowish crowd

Footy express bus barely a quarter full

Freezing cold

No McHenry

32,500
My bus didn't have as many on it either.

Heaps of vacant seats around me.

It's not like they are encouraging us to watch them at the moment.

I think you're overthinking how the performance of the team would be analysed. It would be 'we beat the best team in the league, the lads are playing for Nicks, he can turn it around'. Obviously yes you'd wonder how a team that could beat the best sides can also lose to weak teams but it doesn't mean Nicks would be better off if we didn't win.
