I wouldn't object to picking him up after the bye, priced at under 400k is an absolute bargain. A few were worried about his start to the season and whether he could back it up, and those who took the risk would be laughing.

What's also worth noting is his scores in losses, still respectable, as they were last year. And in a game where Brisbane were competitive he racked up over 130.

For like a quarter...but still

My friend you are an idiot. He averaged 95-100 in the last 13 games or something of the last year...and remember the period....Brisbane had one big arse loosing streak! Brisbane's performances don't effect his scores a great deal.

I wish...won 0 lost 3 actually

My friend i am not an idiot.

Name me one player who has played for a team that has finished below 15th (what im suggesting the lions will finish, if you disagree which you might because your a lions supporter than we agree to disagree on ladder position which makes the point mute) or worst that has avg over 100??

Brisbane have played these teams so far this year. Fremantle, Melbourne and the Buldogs.

The Buldogs and Melbourne are some of the highest leaking teams this year, in fact melbourne basically are the highest team besides Gold Coast. The Buldogs last week annihilated gold coast like cousins annihilated cocaine yet gold coast still scored 1424 points. That's 127 more than what they scored against Carlton.

Melbourne last week won by 2 goals yet they were outscored by Brisbane by 109 points. Melbourne let Hawks score 1842 points at the MCG (MCG avgs 185* points less than Etihad stadium, so god knows what the hawks would've scored at Etihad against the dees with another 185 points up for grabs) when they were 4 goals up at half time.

The only team to outscore 1842 so far this year is Geelong against Port (where 3300 points were scored) and carlton against gold coast where they won by 120 billion points. Brisbane also got destroyed by the buldogs yet still scored 1456 points against them. The Buldogs leaked 1424 to GC (127 more than against Carlton) and 1799 to Essendon (which is 212 more than what they scored against Stkilda last week).

Okay so you stated that the score doesn't affect Rockliff's individuals score.

Last year
R10 - he scored 104 (they won)
R11 - he scored 116 (they lost by 1 point and played at ES*)
R12 - 104 (got smashed but played at ES*)
R13 - 98 (only lost by 3 goals against Richmond) ill give him this one
R14 - 99 (played at ES*)
R15 - 110 (only lost by 14 points)
R16 - 76 (what do you know, they lost by 75 points and played at Aurora)
R17 - 87 (what do you know they lost by 63 and played at skilled)
R18 - 107 (only lost by 10 to melbourne) ill give him this one
R19 - 65 (They won, yet he still didn't score well)
R20 - 103 (only lost by 7)
R21 - 94 (won and was at ES*)
R22 - 102 (Give him this against the swans and lost by quite a bit

93.5 avg

So as i said i think he can avg 93-98 around 95~. But i cant see him avg 105+ like your suggesting unless Brisbane scored ridiculous numbers against every team like they have against the big leakers in Buldogs and Melbourne so far.

Basically im saying where he plays and the success of the side determines how well players go, obviously ability/talent is considered.

But i would love for you to answer my above question in bold.

By increased attention i mean this. Gysberts played Geelong last year and scored 100+. Geelong didn't even know he was playing and they didn't need to, Rockliff will get increased attention by his opponent knowing he will have to keep aware of him. Similar to Gysberts after that game. I by no means say he will get tagged week in week out, especially with Black around. However i think he will get tagged if he racks up 30 posses and his ability to kick goals (check last year of TAC cup - leading goal kicker IIRC) every week.

I think his score against Fremantle is a fair measurement of how he will go in 2011, although Brisbane lost and still scored 100 more points.

Quietly the genuine of genuine uniques i mentioned have been going alright, just pumping my own tyres.

R.Murphy, N.Smith, T.Cloke (bet against Yogi with Jetta of who will avg more, some ppl really:eek:), B.Mcevoy, Dangerfield have been going along superbly. While Harry Taylor and K.Simpson will pick there games up, Harry unfortunate sub last week, but has been going along very well besides that.

Stanton averaged 100 (If not 99 or something) last year and Essendon were bottom 2/3 (Cant remember of the top my head). Watson also had an average close to a hundred.....

Rockliff wont get attention...Black, Power, Rich, Redden will get attention ahead of him. Rocky gets alot of cheap points. You'll see him only a few times a game and he has a huge score!

Problem is there you seem to think Brisbane will get smashed by 100 points every game. I'm reckon we can win 6-8 games this year. And then there gunna be plenty more where we come within 4 goals.

So you couldnt tell me a player that avg 100+ and played for a bottom 3 side?

Stanton avg 99 Essendon finished 12th or 13th
Watson avg 94/95 last year and they weren't bottom 3

Essendon finished with 7 wins, i can see Brisbane winning similar only because they play GC twice.

But it would be unfair of Watson and Stanton to compare them to Rockliff in just his second or so year.

Rockliff at the moment is 3rd in line for a tag. Black is number 1 and Rich is number 2. Power is playing a role as a forward and will get a good defensive small and Redden is playing tagging one on one roles through the middle. Rockliff and Rich are pretty line ball for 2nd in line depending on who is in the better form from the previous week or two. You would hate for Black to get injured.

FWIW i cant see GC, WCE, Rich, Bris and Port winning alot of games this year between them. (Geel, Hawks, Pies, Dogs, Carlton, Freo, Syd, Saints, Ess, Adelaide (when injury free)) these sides are a head above the next.

They came 14th so they were bottom 3.

So 99.5 @ 14th is possible. The odds are certainly against Rockliff but he could still average .5ppg better than Stanton did last year. It's only an extra mark + kick + goal.

Yeah your right, sorry i was looking from a draft pick perspective, forgot Brisbane got pick 5 from Brennan trade.

But as you said the odds are against him, one of those 95-100 avg players you could be carrying all year while others have 110 avg 6th mids.

Also cant understand how people couldve picked him with Boyd, Montagna and Bewick. Bewick and Boyd were massive locks for me. I guess people didn't see it the same or took the risk with 3 brisbane, saints, dogs for round 4 which is relying on too much luck for my liking.

95-100 isn't enough to justify picking him, unless he plays every game then I suppose it could balance out.

Ideally you'd want Rockliff to get to that 105+ level to make a successful pick.

Cloke has unfortunately found his kicking boots... I've never seen him so accurate in front of goal. Just need him to get the yips and then my bet will be safely in my hands.

He was priced at an aevarge of 87...so if he can average 100 it would be enough.

I guess it depends on what you want from him, midfield premiums genuinely need to average 105+ to hold your ranking in good stead.

The money you save from the improvement (injection of cash, and how it's used) into other areas of your side depends as well I guess

Watching Fyfe play yesterday was a DT player's dream come true.

Here you have a player -a true 'unique' because hardly anyone picked him from the start- that has instructions to follow the ball where ever it goes (James Hird style).

He starts on the wing, then roams the ground picking up disposals at will.

One minute he's in the forward-line, the next he's trotting down into the back-pocket.

He's at nearly every stoppage around the ground (always the defensive side) and if he's not getting the ball off the tap, he's tackling the opposition as they win the ball out of a pack.

Funny enough, the ball just didn't bounce right for Fyfe alot of the times against Norf. He gets an incredible score, but it could've been even more if a few more things went his way.

And that snap goal from the pocket just topped it off...a gem of a player.

Certainly a unique by BF people...but I just want to say Yarran has averaged 91 from his last 3 games. Hopefully he can keep it up. 114 (Suns), 75 (Pies), 85 (Dons). Nice mix of teams there. 1 really easier, 1 really tough and 1 about middle. If he keeps it up the next 3 weeks it might be worth keeping him as 7th forward

I picked Fyfe from the start. :) :D

With Cotchin performing pretty well - sub standard against the Hawks in horrible weather though - I've been pretty lucky with my midpicers.

Yep, I reckon Yarran is going to keep it up all season.

I'm just glad I didnt panic (like previous years) and trade him out after rd 1.

Worth keeping for sure..

They were my 2 unique picks from the start as well. Pleased as punch with both of them. A.Swallow was my other unique premium. He's also holding up well. :)

Now ive gone and jinxed them all

Now I know who to kill in their sleep! :p

I had Fyfe last year as well. Fantastic little player - he's going to be a jet.
