Re: The most insipid performance imaginable; pressure non existent

well dons are not at 8-1 side, so being 8-2 is still fine. but yeesh, reminds me of the gws game. too much playing to the level of the comp, the effort has to be more consistent

Re: The most insipid performance imaginable; pressure non existent

Terrible loss but some over-reactions tonight.

Thought over the course of the evening we were a slightly better team but our kicking was woeful, and our ball handling horrendous.

20 minutes into the third quarter it was 5-13 to 4-3 - That's right Melbourne had 7 shots for goal at that time.

There was nothing wrong with our intensity - we won contested possessions - It was our fumbling, poor disposal and shooting for goal that cost.

We have kicked more behinds than points in 7 out of 10 games - Eventually bad kicking catches up to you.

We lost to a 0-9 side. A side that has been thrashed most weeks. Bad goal kicking is no excuse.

Absolutely - And it hurts - But our bad kicking for goal was always going to hurt us at some stage.

About sums it up. Insipid is too strong, they where just dumb and did not simplify things for the conditions.
Poor skills dare i say it finally cost us a game.
Thought they tried pretty hard, they just did not engage the brains.

I don't often agree with you Yaco, but I do here.

Also full credit to Melbourne. They worked and worked all night and with our boys fumbling a slippery ball their pressure really paid off. Really thought they'd drop off once we got a few goals up.

Re: The most insipid performance imaginable; pressure non existent

Bad kicking is bad football. In no circumstance is it ever an excuse.

Of course it is a bloody excuse. Kick at 60% (very achievable) you win the game. Kick at under 40% and waste your chances it bites you on the ass.

Re: The most insipid performance imaginable; pressure non existent

My thoughts on tonight.

Missing set shots from 30 m out unforgiveable.

Lonergan should have come on 5 or 10 minutes to go in the third.

Trying to play dry weather football in the wet just like against the Gold Coast and over possessing.

Kicking accuracy was woeful.

Not many players showed poise.

Didn't pressure the opposition like we have been doing.

Here's the big one - PLAYERS WEARING THE WRONG BOOTS AND SLIPPING OVER AT VITAL STAGES. ffs there isn't even mud out there. The modern day players insistance to wear moulded souls so their feet don't get sore cost us the game full stop.

Re: The most insipid performance imaginable; pressure non existent

At least Carlton lost, eh? :thumbsu::)

That's right. There are always positives.

Which loss is worst?

Dons v Melbourne
Blues v Port (in Adelaide)

Horrible night from a football and fantasy football point of view

Re: The most insipid performance imaginable; pressure non existent

We lost to an 0-9 team. I don't give a shit that we would have won if we were more accurate. It shouldn't have been the difference between us and them. We were an absolute disgrace tonight. Well done to Melbourne, they put in the effort and got the result. Our guys got a severe reality check and I hope it gives them a major kick up the arse.

Re: The most insipid performance imaginable; pressure non existent

Do we know even how to play wet weather footy?

Guys trying to pick up the ball in the forward in the dying minutes under pressure when it's wet... FOR F's SAKE - KICK IT OFF THE BLOODY CARPET!
