Not even close yet Captain Magpie. Come lift your game. You can do better. I guess that happens when you haven’t beaten us in a final for 41 years. I guess it also happens when we lead you in head to head games and Grand Finals against each other. 4-2 isn’t it. You just can’t get it done against us. It’s ok Captain Magpie, we can see where your pain is coming from.
And yet Collingwood haven't beat Richmond in a grand final in almost 100 years how sad

My God you are getting worse. Captain Magpie lift your game please. The numbers are haunting you

119-91
4-2
15-13
They are eating you up. Come on Maggie lift.
If only you had some footage of those old grand finals must have been amazing moments for Collingwood, just unfortunately they will be lost to time, while I will always be able to watch Kevin Bartlett kick 7 goals in a grand final against Collingwood

This did prompt me to have a look at another way to count the brownlow votes in light of Jobe's disqualification. In games where Jobe was awarded 3 or 2 votes, whoever got the 2 or 1 vote in that game is awarded the extra vote. There's no reasonable way for me to assume who should have gotten the 1 vote as the Umpires don't award a 4th best player on ground. (Note that there are other flaws to this but this is just for interests' sake.)

26 votes - Mitchell, Sam
26 votes - Cotchin, Trent

Cotchin had 29 disposals and 3 goals in the dreamtime game that year, but didn't poll a vote. It was one of the best games I've seen him play and I was absolutely livid when he didn't get the 3.

Jobe polled 1 in that game. Stanton polled 2 and also later served a PED ban. Deledio got the 3.

Cotchin should've won that Brownlow outright. But the Bombers took PED's and ****ed the whole thing up.

It's telling that the only year Stanton was able to poll more than 10 Brownlow votes was the year he was on drugs

Honestly they get the norm smith wrong more often than they get it right.

2017 was obviously houli. 2013 how on earth Brian lake got it over Gunston is beyond me. Oh right the media vote for it and wanted the story.

No it absolutely wasn’t. I’ve watched that game at least 4 times and every time I thought Martin was BOG (including live).

Houli got a lot of the ball early which sticks in people’s minds, but Martin did a lot more damage.

The narrative that Houli deserved it over Martin is based entirely on tall poppy syndrome.

People even try to argue that Dusty didn’t deserve 2019 and 2020, which is absolutely ludicrous.

The game was over in 2017 before dusty got going. Did he do more damage ? Maybe but they were going to win anyway. Same as 2019.

2020 obviously he kicked all those goals in the 2nd half when the game was there to be won so yeah that’s a clear win.

Leon Davis didn't play in the 2010 GF replay, perhaps an argument could be mounted there.
I've always thought it was fair that he got one. I look at that flag as an 8 quarter GF, because there was no second week if the draw didn't happen. He played in it, so he gets a medal.

Incorrect again. He had plenty of the ball in the first half.

He kicked a goal right before the half time siren when the score was 34-30, which gave Richmond some breathing space going into half time. He also beat two opponents on the forward 50 line to win the ball, and then dished off to Houli to kick our second goal. He had 14 disposals and a goal at half time. He consistently racked up the ball over the match. He did more to win the game for Richmond in the first half than Houli did IMO.

I’m not saying Dusty wasn’t a worthy winner, but IMO Rance’s first half, especially first quarter, had more impact on the result than anything anyone else did.

1982. Norm Smith.
Maurice Rioli. Had only 19 possessions and his team lost. 10 players had more possessions that day. Selectors nominated at the start of last quarter. He barely touched the ball in the last quarter as Carlton pulled away.
Watch the last half on You Tube, you’ll barely sight him.

A few Norm Smiths, not undeserved but I would have voted differently

2011 - Selwood instead of Bartel
2012 - Hannebery instead of O'Keefe
2016 - Boyd (or JPK in a loss) instead of Johannisen

Never watched a replay, but at the the ground I thought Langford over Hodge in 2014 too.

All the Hawthorn 3-peat Norms were deserved. Wasn't hard to pick all 3 at the ground.

Could have had a raffle for it for the 2014 Grand Final. I thought Hodge was the correct choice with Lewis/Mitchell close behind. Langford/Roughead/Gibson/Burgoyne in the next rung below.
