Hird bagged 5 from the midfield from memory that day, maybe 4, around 30 touches. Cupido got 5 from the fwd pocket, he no doubt played well but Hird had him covered that day.Just wanted a different face Seb, he was stiff Cupes.

Bit of both. Best on but can't just be a short burst.Norm Smith - should it go to the player who was best/most consistant overall or the one that was the most important in influencing the end result?
Not saying Hodge was not deserving in 2008, but Stewart Dew won that game for Hawthorn.
I'll give a pass on the rising star because to be fair, Lewis Taylor was good in 2014 and Bont didn't debut until Round 5.
But giving Matt White goal of the year over Bont is one of the greatest robberies I've seen in the AFL. Whites was a great running goal, but ultimately forgettable. Bont kicked one of the greatest goals of all time
What did he test positive for ?Dustin Fletcher must be struck from the 400 game club.
Games played whilst on a club sanctioned team wide doping program cannot count !!
Impressive he managed to run further than the length of a football fieldI can remember White's goal running a 200m sprint with someone on his hammer the whole time. Can't remember the Bont, so maybe his was forgettable?
well here's what it says on the official AFL website
"Presented to the player judged, by an independent panel of football experts, to be best on ground in the Grand Final."
Norm Smith Medal - AFL.com.au
The Norm Smith Medal is presented to the player judged, by an independent panel of football experts, to be best on ground in the Grand Finalwww.afl.com.au
Yes there can 2 bazillion different ways to interprete what "best on ground" is (in your own opinion) but I made sure to check that the article didn't ask for opinion, interpretation from armchair fans. It didn't.
(No, I don't approve of so called media experts to be included on the judging panel..like Damo etc...but my disapproval don't mean jack$hit so why waste my time on it).
Dusty played the best 4 quarter game, but IMO Richmond would have still won if Dusty hadn’t played. Only Tiges player whose absence might have affected the result was Rance (and possibly Houli). In the first quarter when Adelaide had dangerous repeat entries and could easily have gone 5 goals up, it was Rance who repelled them. Dusty was the best player, but not the most valuable IMO.Thought Rance was BOG at half time, but the ball hardly went down there in the second half.
Absolutely. Playing extremely well in junk time means nothing. It should be about impact on the resultGood point- should go to the player who does the most damage, rather than simply the best overall. Different to brownlow
Modra toogavin wanganeen 1993 brownlow.
gary Ablett and Wayne Carey put together two of the greatest individual seasons of all time that season.
greg Williams also extremely stiff.
all three were a significant level above wanganeen.
What did he test positive for ?

Which banned substance ?Drug cheat
And he’ll live with it every day …
Which banned substance ?
So tested positive ?Thymosin (not the "good thymosin" either)
But Gary Ablett Junior won every award in 08 except the Brownlow. He was favourite by a country mile. Not Cooney’s fault thoughYou wouldn't be saying that if is his career wasn't wrecked by knee injuries. He was a fantastic player before his body let him down.
