Norwood in the AFL would have happened if they sided with us. At the time, we were the two biggest clubs in the state by a mile and both of us had fairly handy people behind the scenes to push for us. If we worked together to get into the AFL, we'd both be in the AFL right now.

Dees would have insisted they drop the bevy blue and red ;)

I found this earlier what bumper crowds Norwood would've brought to the AFL eh.. worth watching the first few minutes for Jacko

1.16:15 Lou Richards says, just on seven and a half thousand people here Pete. Landy responds with, that's a very good crowd isn't it Lou. Those were the days. 21st May Tuesday night 1985 was that game.

They were a sideshow. Occasionally an sa or wa side would beat a vic team and people got excited for 5 minutes.
Knocking off the peckers in round 14 was still more important

Got a vague memory of an SA or WA team making it to a semi final once and getting slaughtered at VFL Park????

I think it was North. They beat Collingwood and Melbourne before getting thumped by whoever it was in the semi.

Edit- I think Swan Districts had a good run one year too. They famously stood their ground against Collingwood and had them wear an alternative guernsey.
Collingwood had the last laugh though when they adopted the Swan's guernsey full time in about 1997

Boak is a champion of his club but he's also a part of the problem of our lack of premiership success. He's been found wanting or choking in big games and moments more regularly than his comrade Robbie Gray who is GOAT material for this club and more often than not stood up when there's been heat.

I reckon there are a good number of players who are taking our club for granted and forget the reason they put that jumper on every week. It starts with the leadership attitude and runs deep to players. I think they are just happy to earn a paycheck and accept mediocrity which is our current culture. No one gets held accountable and that is BS. Rant over

Well when they're told footy is the most important of the LEAST IMPORTANT things, what do you expect?

Just a job 😄

Bonner cops an incredibly raw deal on this forum and hes nowhere near as bad as a lot of people make him out to be

Yes. I've been saying this for years, and it has always been unpopular. People tend to forget that some of our biggest chokes happened during his time as captain. He's a great (very good?) player but also panics under pressure.

Sorry, he's bad. He's got some skills, but not enough to compensate for his lack of hardness. He's got no place in a premiership side.

I remember him having a shot on goal last year in the prelim directly in front, came closer to the goals at AAMI than AO

It was Swan Districts in 1982. They beat Collingwood in the round of 16 then sent over a reserves/colts team to play Richmond because they were pissed off with the scheduling.

Richmond won by 186 points.

Michael 'Disco' Roach kicked 10 goals in a quarter and a half

I mean, he can be a neat player when the game’s played entirely on his terms (see last week versus Freo: 100% of his possessions were uncontested), but when your ultimate ceiling is probably James Aish (and you’re yet to reach it), your place in the side is always going to be under threat.

A series of weird flexes by South Melbourne there.

Dropping their name midseason and winning the tournament? Wild.

Bonners problem is we have about 5 other similar players who do it better.
