All this reminiscing about Sam Gray and Arch reminds me of the time Thommilf got multiple centre clearances in the last qtr of a game against the bummers, and he looked so good doing it that l left the ground that night thinking the club had probably found its next `A' plus midfielder.
Thommilf? 🤨🤔 Who's that.....

Fair headed midfielder drafted from Sturt back in Choco's time, I think he was traded to Richmond as part of the Jay Schulz deal.
How's his wiki lol

Thomson was legendary for his love of chicken rolls from a local chicken shop during his career at Port Adelaide, and would often travel to the local movies with teammates to watch a film. He also had a bizarre ritual of wearing a hoodie and tracksuit pants while undertaking high-intensity training sessions

The last game of that block was the first round of 2016 (retro guernsey modelled by Jay Schulz goes here), when we first hatched that diabolical extreme forward press gameplan that saw the lowly Saints get a stack of goals out the back, before the ‘underdog’ Crows obliterated us the week after.

The brilliant mind of ken Hinkley

Saints were literally up by five goals I thinks at one stage, one of the main reasons they lost is because their idiot defence kept giving free kicks away to Dixon

At one point I remember Montagna walking in a goal that felt like a try in a Rugby Sevens game between South Africa and Liechtenstein.

Edit: it couldn’t have been according to the scoring progression, but whoever it was did it eeeeeasy.

We don’t have a list capable of winning the flag. Ie, it’s not all Ken’s fault. Whilst I’m still not a fan.

This could change if Rozee, Butters and Marshall take further steps in their development to become top 10 players.

That being said, the only teams with premiership lists are Melbourne, Geelong and Brisbane. Throw a blanket over about 12 teams. With Hawthorn, North and Gws having no chance.

We have had multiple premiership calibre lists in the last decade.

The only constant holding them back has been handbrake hinkley.

Imagine giving Ken a pass by saying he hasn't been able to develop a premiership calibre list in 10 seasons.

West Coast and Collingwood played off in the 2018 Grand Final with teams that man-for-man, made some of the teams Ken has had look like Phil Jackson’s Bulls.

How is the quality of the list not largely on the bloke that's been in charge for a decade?

This sort of argument only makes sense for coaches in the first 3-4 years. If you've been there 10 years and haven't built a list that can challenge in that time its 99% on you.

My post wasn’t to defend Ken. I think we should have moved on 5 years ago.

It’s more that at this point in time, we aren’t one of the better lists in the comp. But we do have promise.

I think the notion of a 'premiership list' is a fallacy.

Yes, you need a certain number of high calibre players in key positions, but to say we don't have a list capable of winning a premiership is not true. The list is very capable.

I'm actually surprisingly optimistic about our chances this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if we push top 4 even with a tough draw, I don't rate the depth of the comp.

The issue as always will be Hinkley in finals.

Yep start of 2022 very few people thought Collingwood could even make finals, yet they only fell by a kick to both grand finalists.
