To be honest, I think it's high time we began really pushing this matter along a little further. Eventually there will be no Magpies running around in the SANFL and eventually there will be no supporters left who saw Port Adelaide play in its traditional guernsey. This is our history and identity at stake and something needs to be done.

In the past we've taken a limp wristed approach to the issue of the PB guernsey, largely due to our status as a new kid on the block in the early days and then minnow/handout dependent club in more recent days. Nowadays, we have new found clout with a huge membership base, packed match day, well respected board and executive, the China initiative, etc, which would surely gain us a more sympathetic ear at the AFL than we have ever had in the past. Also, Collingwood are as weak as they have been this century and Eddie McGuire's influence is on the wane and he is likely to be on his way out over the next few years.

Obviously there is no good reason whatsoever that we should not be allowed to wear the PB guernsey. At the very least, we should be producing some type of position paper that makes our intentions very clear and asks for a very clear response on what we can and can't do and the reasons why. I would also look at our legal options in terms of restraint of trade, etc.

Not sure what we can do as supporters. Maybe it needs a more high profile backing ala Ginever and Fiacchi with the One Club thing. But ffs Port, grow a pair and do something about this nonsense.
Thoroughly agree. We need to become, dare I say it, campaigners. Going by that fan survey last year (see https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/perfect-port-adelaide-uniform.1104074/) there is a fair amount of resistance (or perhaps ambivalence) to the idea so a strategic approach would need to be taken by the club (with our support) to get the majority of fans on board, then present the case to the AFL.
I wonder whether a staged progression towards the traditional PB could be the go: start with traditional design but include silver bars and teal blue panels & gradually morph back to the traditional PB.

PAFC should be able to wear the PB in any home match they (the club - no one else) deem to be appropriate.

It does seem pointless to me if we are getting tied up in knots about the width of stripes or the exact shade of blue/teal or when to trot out the trad Guernsey etc when we are looking feckless out on the field.
I just can't wait until we are playing decent football then I'll join in on the numbers should be in gothic script type of debates.
Ah the off season. I guess the upside is I can't wreck my weekend/ entire week over a crushing loss - glass half full

Let's call it what it is - baby blue.

Will forever remind me of losing a showdown and Warren Tredrea going up to the wing just to get a kick.

I said the same thing about this.

So if we have a great, gutsy year can we please say they're fecked? :D

Needs more oomph. Can I suggest ....

Well I was thinking of an antonym of feckless, the likelihood for confusion just an added bonus. Disappointingly it's derived from a 16th Century Scots and northern English variation of effect, not the other word. :D

Every few years we want to change the guernsey. How do you build any sort of tradition when you wear a different jumper every few years? The more cynical among us might pose another question, is this change a money grab by the Club?

I reckon it's more a case of the modern era. Sponsors change, guernsey manufacturers change, logos change. Sign of the times.

Thats it we're wearing Purple and entering Adelaide Oval to "When the doves cry" next year.

You heard it here first.
