I think Dixon is the problem, not the delivery. We still laced it out to Schulz a few times last year and so far Eddy this year, amongst others. He doesn't get it. I put some of it down to him personally and the rest down to shithouse neglected forward coaching.
I think it may be that he's not leading when he should.

We played with no less than 3 tall marking options fwd at any one time on Thursday night and all the doomsdayers say, same ole same old

Those tall marking options being Ryder (our best ruckman), Trengove (a best and fairest winning defender who was our lead ruckman for most of last year), Eddy (a 0 game, 193cm player) and Dixon (our tall marking forward who can't actually mark the ball).

Well I prefer that setup to Neade one out with a tall defender

I think Come the end of the year, and through next year, we're really going to regret giving away our first pick. We'd wanna hope SPP and Marshall become guns.

Also I'm positive Ken isn't the problem with this group, but he also isn't the solution. Extending his contract to 2018 was a mistake.

Bottom 4 talk is madness.

It's not really. Still unlikely and on the negative side as far as predictions go but it's not totally impossible to see Melbourne, Collingwood, Freo and two of Gold Coast, Essendon and Richmond going past us which would put us bottom 4.

Bottom 4 means we will win only 5 or 6 games maybe 7 at a stretch. That puts us at 2012 levels. We are better than that. If we have more injuries and suspensions than last year then there is a chance, but if we have a decent run with injuries and we only win 5 or 6 games, then not only Ken's job is on the line but a shit load others - Burgo and his fitness team, KT, Koch and the board who have backed in the coaches and team and many of Ken's assistants. And maybe a dozen player's or more should go.

Why don't we get that spud in your avatar back...he would fix everything.

Now you're talking! :D

If only we could find a way to combine Butchachaaa's marking ability with old trampoline hands' kicking ability we'd have a competent key forward :thumbsu:

My unpopular view is that the PAFC does all the grunt work in China and another club(s) capitalises!

It wouldn't do much good for us to play an internal trial over there, would it?

Be prepared to lose one of Pittard or Trengove this off season. Not because we want to lose them, but because the offers for both will be of such a magnitude that we will only be able to afford to keep one of them. The amount of boards I've gone to where they've said that one or the other would be a 'perfect fit' for their club is very, very high.

Both will entail band one compensation.

Trengove will stay, he's Port Adelaide through and through, but I expect we'll lose Pittard, especially if Ken gets sacked. And the 'he's just a half back flanker' brigade will realise how silly they were when our 2018 ball movement out of defence consists of Jonas and Clurey kicking it sideways to each other because nobody has the balls to push the ball forward.

Bonner will become the new Pittard in time but he's obviously not there yet, so it would hurt to lose Jasper in the short term (i.e. next year).

On the few occasions that I've attended a training session, I've taken special notice of Jasper at training and he comes across as very frustrated with his team mates. I think Schulzenfest is correct in that we'll lose him. I will hate it but I think it's inevitable.

Can't afford to loose him, if were looking like missing finals again. We have to take action to show jasper there is a future to hang around for.

People keep saying its whether or not Hinkley is around, i think its if he can see finals/a premiership in our future. He's probably getting sick of being one of a handful of guys carrying the side each week. start dropping (and getting rid of) the dead wood and get serious about playing finals.

It wouldn't surprise me if we lose both Pittard and Trengove. I'd be gutted, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Id be very surprised at Jacko going, Pittard, Not so much. Id defiantly be gutted…. But on the upside, well match any offer we get for him and get something really good in return and with Bonner up and coming he'll take pittards spot in the side, we saw against the saints what Bonner will offer in years to come. (not saying he'd ever push pittard out, they be a lethal combination in years to come if Jasper stays…. they'll scare the crap out of the rest of the comp coming off half back)

Because 2016 was an aberration that came about from Broadbent being forced to take up a spot on the wing, Hartlett being injured for half the year and Byrne-Jones basically defaulting to Pittard to handle the ball carrying duties out of defence. He became indispensable through circumstance.

In 2017 if we're playing properly Pittard's numbers should drop a little while everyone else's rise.

Jacko is the sort of bloke who would tell the club if you can get a top 10 and top 20 pick for me in a trade, he would say I'm prepared to leave and go home and take the missus and new baby to Melbourne to he around family.
