Don Pyke is asked about the atrocious song in this interview (approx. 12:30 onwards) . He’s “well aware of the public sentiment”. He gave a pretty promising response I thought.

80's synth guitar sound or GTFO.

He's been away from the club for a while, just needs to get used to it.

Clearly better, just takes some getting used to

Every few months I get someone thumbs downing this. I'm aware it's a terrible, terrible take, now piss off and leave me alone.

You would say that. I’m going to un-thumbs-down your post just so I can dislike it again

The song we had in 2018 is fine. It does not have to be the best song. But I was at that GF and singing it afterwards no one was complaining.
Wrong. There were people who - after singing it a couple of times - started mocking it. In fact a couple of guys started singing our (inane) words to the Richmond tune.

Oh we’re from Eagleland …

If Richmond were a basket case like NthM then I’d just happily steal their song and just tell’em to naff off. 😀

For a club that is so successful our song is an embarrassment. That is, both the original and ‘improved’ versions.

It's only an embraressment because we keep changing it every few years. Just like we did with our Jumpers. Footy clubs should not keep changing things.

There will always be some that don't like things. The chorus is fine to our song. It's just the rest that needs sorting.

But either way the version we have now is a disgrace to the football world and in particular our club.
