This is harsh. This is VERY harsh. I get the 'white folk are the best-positioned ethnicity to succeeed in the United States' viewpoint but to call anyone mired in, often generational, poverty a "failure as a person" is wrong in my opinion.

Speaking as an avowed left-winger these are the people who are meant to be our base. The right wing wins them over by speaking to their insecurities (why can't you get a job? IMMIGRATION!) and people without hope will look to anything.

We lefties need to achieve concrete solutions to help these people. To win them back in a post-manufacturing and service-based environment.
I used to see stories from the US about the homeless (often with the suffix 'veterans') and their often massive encampments and astonished than bugger all seems to be done about them. Then I realised that no-one gives a **** and they are just considered the new normal.

I never thought it could happen here - at least to that extent. But walking through the city every second doorway seemed to have a homeless person sleeping in it. I work in Eltham and there are homeless people begging outside the supermarkets (in Eltham!) and down close to home, several homeless people in the carpark of Beaconsfield shopping centre (in bloody Beaconsfield!)

Non government gives a rats about these people. No-one gives a rats about those close to the poverty line, leaving them to fight over the scraps of whatever they offer in regards to indentity and a semblance of things were better before the 'woke' and the immigrants took control.

It is shithouse.

133 pages and not one person can admit they were wrong about Harris and the Trump fans were correct ?

Just one ?
many of us on the harris side did post expectation that trump would win, or that it was not a harris landslide (yes I am aware that there are some who did, so if they are the ones you seek a "we were wrong" from then fair enough

I still do not understand reasons to vote for trump that are not based on feelings and emotion (which yes are real and powerful drivers to vote, not disputing that, but at this remove where the passion is not directly present I cannot see reason to pick trump, given his prior conduct on losing 2020)

did you actually watch the debate?

She was poor but better then Trump still

Issue was after that. Trump did better in interviews and Harris did deplorably. She lost all the gains and then some as time went on . Debate became irrelevant by the time the votes got cast

i disagree but put that down to opnion.

the fact is trump won everything, including the popular vote.

harris was a shocking choice.

And ending the Ukraine war on day one?
well, I can see him delivering this - end military aid for Ukraine from USA, the war part will collapse though there will be a years long insurgency I think

Biden should be viewed by history as a major reason for trump winning.

He is a disgrace for not allowing democrats the time to have an open primary.
Rubbish. Democrats weakness isn’t Bidens fault. He should have been booted out 2 years ago when it’s clear he was done for.

He never said any of that. What he has said is far more nuanced and why events like today come as such a surprise to people like you.

But he did.

America just wants to be confidently told it’ll all be fixed. I don’t think the how actually matters to them.
See Carter vs Reagan.

Carter (the actual christian) Told America to harden the **** up and Dementia Ronny just used the credit card.

ok well that's your opinion.

And considering Trump won comfortably in all elements of this (or at least is on track too, including the popular vote), I'd say most disagree with you.

Pretty confident the election result and Trump’s debate performance are not correlated.

But hey HTW’s record of being a Trump guy who won’t admit he’s a Trump guy continues

He had to walk as he promised to do so in 2020. But he delusionally saw himself as a messiah who was needed to beat trump again. Its all on biden and those in his inner circle for thinking he was the second coming and refusing to walk as he promised until it was too late.

OK two quick ones:

What exactly is wokeism in your view? seeam to be in every other of your posts.
How do you 'boot' out a sitting president? 25th amendment?

Narrowing a loss but not by enough…

Let’s not pretend she was anything but an abysmal choice. I mean we can’t ignore evidence now can we
I thought she was running scared to give a proper defined opinion on pretty much anything apart from "Trump is a mofo". Her "identity" was all she had in the end.

Democratic head honchos disrespecting their own supporters by keeping them out of the primary "process", and Dems just roll over like puppy dogs.

100% this.

Trump offered solutions. Awful ones that make absolutely 0 economic sense. But he offered them and didn’t back down on them.

America just wants to be confidently told it’ll all be fixed. I don’t think the how actually matters to them.
like many electorates, memories of goldfish and inability to hold politicians accountable for failure

Honest question. In your opinion was the assassination attempt, and the optics from it, a crucial turning point in the election?

It doesn't but this is where education matters. Education systems are not teaching people to critically think and analyse information so they can't see through lies and useless slogans from people like Trump. Education needs to massively improve and has a lot to answer for.
