Same reason the election is on a Tuesday, because that made the most sense back in the 1700s when they designed their system. They've actually moved the inauguration up by 2 months, it used to be in March.

The voting public wants something different - they want the chaos. Because it beats more of the same. Poorer Americans are seeing their groceries become unaffordable, their jobs sent overseas and the rich getting richer. Biden/Harris for 4 years didn't help them.

The only way it reverts is if it becomes an absolute clusterf***. The Democrats are losing their base and they don't know where to go from here. If Biden was still running, it would have been over two hours ago.

It's a similar problem progressive type parties like Labour in the UK and Labor here will face.

i've spent a heap of time in the US the past few years, both for business & my best mates moved there.

i actually think it's alright tbh.

It's a great place to live if you have a job that pays well.

If not, some areas can be on par with third world countries.

What makes you think that? All of them look like they'll be within 1%. All of the races look like tightening. (where Trump is ahead there's a lot of Urban left, where Harris is ahead, a lot of rural).

From what I've read, she needs to outperform Biden in places that still need to be counted, which just hasn't been the case elsewhere. Looks a long and unlikely path back unfortunately.

used to be early March way back (4 months), I think Truman in 1949 was when it shifted to late January (2.5 months)
