I take that back.Anyone else going to the forum at HQ tonight? Will be an interesting listen.
A lot of stuff that went over my head. I'm sure everyone here will find out in the next couple of sessions as well.So what happened?
The penalty we pay for not having ‘old’ attached to our name.Yet players can get paid to play VFL then come back to their Amateur club next week and that’s ok? Makes no sense at all!
What was discussed? Strategic plan for the VAFA going forward?A lot of stuff that went over my head. I'm sure everyone here will find out in the next couple of sessions as well.
Yeah. It showed trends going forward and how the clubs could communicate with them amongst other things. Nothing about Ivanhoe unfortunately. What was discussed? Strategic plan for the VAFA going forward?

What their plan for promotion/relegation was if you did leave. What were you hoping to find out about Ivanhoe Eth-D?

One of the points was "capping the number of sides a club could have". I'll believe it when I see it.Hopefully they discussed restricting clubs to a maximum of 2 19's and 3rds

Thanks. I hope the trends show it is becoming increasingly more and more difficult to organise amateur sides and volunteers are light on, with players becoming more and more transient.Yeah. Speaking of volunteers, was told that a water boy was kicked off a ground by the umpires for being too young on the weekend. The kid was 11.Thanks. One of the great things about our comp is seeing a little kid running around giving water to the players, I have seen 6 and 7 year olds doing it and I love it.Speaking of volunteers, was told that a water boy was kicked off a ground by the umpires for being too young on the weekend. The kid was 11.
I would be horrified if that’s a HQ directive.
The strain on having volunteers registered is becoming ridiculous. I moved clubs due to moving away this year and went back and watched my old side and ran water for the twos as I had some good mates playing and it was a warmish day and they had no one. I had to run water under a fake name as i was registered elsewhere. Why should a waterboy for a country twos game need to be registered??Speaking of volunteers, was told that a water boy was kicked off a ground by the umpires for being too young on the weekend. The kid was 11.

It’s hard enough to get a volunteer just before a game let alone register them. Basic volunteers are usually boundary, goal, runner, water boy, timekeeper = 5 multiplied by say at least 4 games per club = 20. Try managing them weekly let alone registering. There goes the majority of water carriers in the division grade reserve matches
Where was this mounzer? Umpire should be named and shamed!!! As a field umpire, no matter the age of the water carrier, always ask them of the 50 metre arc rule and always ask for a drink of water.Speaking of volunteers, was told that a water boy was kicked off a ground by the umpires for being too young on the weekend. I believe our club is paying for all of these roles this year to try and help with the lack of volunteers / supplied umpires in lower divisions. It has helped a little bit, but has now given rise to another challenge ......extra revenue generation is required. We (social members) have agreed to a rise in those fees to help the club with the increased costs.

That person should get the Volunteer of the Week award. It lasted two weeks then disappeared?I was at a club on Saturday where the same person was field umpire for the womans, mens reserve and then time keeper in the 1's.
9 am to 5 pm with hardly a break.
Didn't ivanhoe have two VFL players last year playing 5 divisions below their levelThe penalty we pay for not having ‘old’ attached to our name.
I know of one that was a 3 year Ivanhoe player, plucked by Collingwood mid season and then promptly told to find a better grade of footy ….Didn't ivanhoe have two VFL players last year playing 5 divisions below their level
That same player was also an Ivanhoe junior and brother to two other senior players ..... but of course it's a conspiracy that such a low level club would / should have that sort of talent.I know of one that was a 3 year Ivanhoe player, plucked by Collingwood mid season and then promptly told to find a better grade of footy ….
Tell me how we were breaching rules again?!!
100% happened, it was the coaches son who was told he was too young. One of the great things about our comp is seeing a little kid running around giving water to the players, I have seen 6 and 7 year olds doing it and I love it.
If that did happen, I would hope that the umpire is counselled and given a week off.
