Oakleigh over bentleigh by 65

Oakleigh running into form only losing to ivanhoe by 10 last week, who have pumped all their other sides (including bentleigh) by close to 100.

Ivanhoe over Ormond by 19

Game of the round. Ivanhoe with better form, but havent been tested all that much yet.

Bulleen over La trobe by 55

Bulleen are better than people make them out to be, and La trobe are worse than people make them out to be. Bulleen comfortably.

Essendon over MHSOB by 99

Essendon to dispatch the Richmond of the VAFA under 19 (3)

Trinity over Mentone by 24

Trinity are up and down, but should get up over Mentone, but closer as they have to drive a long way.

All signs pointing to Old Essendon at the moment if you study the form, with Ivanhoe close behind, and Ormond and Bulleen are looking to sneak up on them. Trinity need a big win this week to put themselves in the picture

BENTLEIGH vs OAKLEIGH @ Bentleigh Recreation Reserve - 'Match of the Round' looks to set the Southern Suburbs on fire. Both teams only win this season has been over MHSOB (or Richmond as some are starting to label them) which makes this out to be quite the interesting match. But in a tight one Oakleigh will come up trumps with a nail-biting 2point win. I will also make a prediction that there may be a few fellas heading to EP come Tuesday night after this epic battle.

OLD IVANHOE vs ORMOND @ Chelsworth Park - Old Ivanhoe will account for Ormond. Will be a tight match up to the 3rd Quarter, but the boys with the poo brown shorts will turn it on in the second half winning by 26points.

LA TROBE UNI vs BULLEEN TEMPLESTOWE @ Latrobe University - La Trobe seem to be getting a bit of flack from some BigFooty Members, but I think this team is better than some may think. They are the sort of team that will one week kill it then die off another, just a feeling this week will be a good one. It will be close but La Trobe to get home by a narrow 4 points.

MHSOB vs OLD ESSENDON@ Melbourne High - Can't go past OEs dominant form and with MHSOB still winless, OE by a whopping 100+ points.

OLD MENTONIANS vs OLD TRINITY @ Mentone Grammar Playing Fields - OT bounced back last week with a big win over La Trobe (all stars were rippin it, kudos to Jessop & Beaton) and will be looking to extend some percentage with some tough games ahead. Old Mentone coming off back to back wins will also be hungry to take their record to 3-2, however can't see that happening with OT to get up by 60+ points.

And to Nathan Brown #7 how can you possibly say Trinity are "up and down" after one bad performance? Don't know how you can put Ormond & BT above them, but I guess you are entitled to your own opinion, let's just see how it plays out in the next 3 rounds champ :thumbsu:.

Seems BT are getting some respect around the league now. The definate unknowns of the div.

Have beaten one of the flag faves in OT and lost to OI (by all accounts the yardstick), OE (weren't disgraced) and Ormond (who i see where last years runner up, and only just got over the line)

Have the Bullants had the hardest draw so far?????

This week will see if they're the real deal, or just making up the numbers>

Will be very interesting

BT are certainly better than most gave them credit for at season's start. It seems in hindsight they've had the most difficult start and will be around the 4 all year if they win the close ones.

Their got some big guys that can take a grab and their midfield isn't bad either, but their too reliant on Monaco. Without him or if shut down, they will find it hard to cope.

rardo almost fell off his chair laughing after reading the vafa record this week. Apparently monaco was 'triple teamed' in the Ants' matchup against the baby bombers last round...
the only people triple teaming monaco on the weekend were his team mates in the showers after the game. rumor has it that he was penetrated more easily than buleen's backline was on the weekend!

rardo, signing out

coolbananas tips for round 5:

Oakleigh to get over the line against Bentleigh.
Old Ivanhoe too good for Ormond.
Bulleen Temp to get there 2nd win over the uni boys.
Old Essendon will be way too good for Melbourne High, who will cement their wooden spoon spot on the ladder.
Old Trinity to beat Old Mentone.

Some interesting results at the weekend in this division.

Trinity out played by Mentone was the real upset, with the once flag favourites now looking less than impressive. Previously someone on this thread warned of Mentone, and they just might be right!

What about Ivanhoe? Not easy to touch up 3rd by over 100pts! Can someone give feed back on the players involved, perhaps Ormond were missing a couple?

La Trobe also got the job done against Bulleen in somewhat of an upset. Obviously the uni boys are trying to the get the wins up before they pack the overnighter and head country following exams.

Oakleigh and Essendon, no real surprises.

Ormond weren't really missing anyone from their previous weeks thumping of bentleigh apart from Tim Allen, a sneaky mid-fielder who loves to kick goals... bit he was replaced by the veteran Jak Wardley so they pretty much cancel each other out.

Ivanhoe are just to good... should have been in the Grand-Final last year if it wasn't for their once of shocking performance in the semi last year to yours truely, the boys from ormond.

Ivanhoe should go up to Div 2 and St. Bedes should go up to Premier, their percentage of over 1500 is just unbelievable after 5 rounds!

Will Essendon be going up to div 2 with Ivanhoe because last time I checked there was only 36pts separating the two teams in for/against %?

When both teams play each other in round 9 I think only then can such comments be made. Ivanhoe are no st.bedes!

Mate from your U19 (2) post, i think no-one is going to go up or down... OI will be in our division for the rest of the year as will OE... quality teams to come up against, looking forward to playing OE!

Mentone had a good game and from all reports played pretty well, however they were still missing 7 or 8 players to senior duties... with those boys back in the side they are contenders, good to see the young lads r stepping up without all there guns and taking to "finals contenders" like trinity, who were ordinary from what i hear.

does anyone know much about D. Trevaskis from OE? a massive haul on the weekend has put him right up there in the goal kicking tally. has he been out injured or did he just thrive on the lack of opposition put up by the MHSOB defenders?
Could he be the player OE have been looking for who thus far have failed to have a cosistant goal kicker up forward??

I've heard he performs wonderful puppetry tricks with his member!

I pose a question for the forum...would you rather 1 consistant goalkicker or perhaps a team in which 10 players regularly score 1-2 goals a week?

1 big haul - every team needs a goal kicking machine, particularily in the under 19's

5 Rounds in and have not yet seen a team with a big dominant full forward... haven't played Bulleen yet who are ment to have a goal kicking machine but afetr the first coupla rounds haven't heard much about him!

No-one comes close to the Lee Barrand or Mitch Boodinar from last year, if anything this year forawrds are more like Ellis from OI last year!

Saw the OEG boys on saturday and they appeared to be the complete package. A gun target forward in Trevaskis booting nine, as well as many other forwards contributing with a couple of goals make OE very tough to match up on. The midfield was in a league of its own - not bad since they were only meant to be getting second use of the ball - great call Johnny Aitken. Cant comment about Trevaskis and his puppet show with his member, but if the Knight Rider is correct then things just keep gettin better for OEG.
MHSOB should stick it out in the Sniper's opinion - if they master the switch they will become a more competitive unit.

ormond were extremely undermanned and played most of the game with less than 18 on the filed due to injuries, this also happened against old essendon as well. lots of injuries again this week but should still finish top 4 very easily and do well in finals gaining lots of players back.

what the hell is up with OI's ground? may as well be playing on concrete.

HAHA Wing Sniper they turned over close to 9 Goals from being ******s trying to switch the ball... stick to being duds MHSOB, cant put it any easier...

HA Yeah harsh but true Rardo - what is this forum's opinion of #22 for MHSOB? Think he might have been one of the blokes triple teaming Monaco in the showers as Rardo mentioned...

Can people please refrain from using excuses such as "undermanned" and cheating as was the excuse for BT against OE. It is not possible for a teams reason for losing several times in a number of weeks to be "undermanned". Please get over the fact that you do not have those players in your team for what ever reason and get on with the job. Most team loses players due to promotion to seniors. If u dont like it go join number 22 from MHSOB in the showers!

Ormond had Foy, Allen, Simpson, Te Hennepe and Friedman all playing against OE, which I think are their better players.

Ormond had a few of those missing against OI but stop with the excuses. Every team has injuries and every team has players in the seniors.

If you don't have depth in your squad to cover them, then you're not the real deal.

u go too far when u start naming players. i think hes one of our better players and shaw did giv a few of ur players a touch up this year as well as last year.

a better forum to start would be how soft are OE AS A TEAM. cmon their best player wears a shoe lace head band to keep his foiled hair out of his face (rardo would love shower time with him) and their captain would only hav a go at someone when its behind the play but will never put his head over the ball which he made evident both this and last year.

this forum used to be funny but u took it too far wing sniper!
