Stood up in the last quarter when needed.

Great effort at both ends of the ground.

Great Goal and strong, smart goal saving mark.

telling tonight i think was before the bounce, foxtel's camera's showed Thommo leading the team to the middle. Sure VB is captain, but that doesnt mean he's he only leader in the side. Macca wasnt even in the leadership group for years before retiring, yet was clearly an on field leader. your captain doesnt have to be your best on field leader...... it helps though. Good game though VB.

Big improvement over his last few games, thought he was a lot better under pressure, definitely no where near as many clangers and didn't spoil the ball off any team mates this week. So all in all a passing mark for the skipper!

This isn't even close to true.

That said, VB had some disappointing moments earlier in the game... but really made it count in the end when we needed him. That mark in the final quarter was brilliant :thumbsu:

Yeah, I am being a bit over the top. Still, IMO its the first time all season that he has had a game-changing influence.....in the positive.

Those are the things he needs to bring every week, like the VB of the past. Goal in the last... run past it, back heel it up, double back grab it then snap a goal...footy gods finally smiling on VB. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

He kicked a goal on his left and he took a mark under pressure.

How did he play otherwise?

Callinan has done more in one game and a half than Nathan has his year.

I think he would be excellent off the ground and we can't judge that contribution, but on the ground he has been far from what you would expect from a captain.

This year we have had three on field captains, Rutten, Thompson and Johncock. Sneaky mention for Tippet too, he gives it all.

That contested mark, against Mcglynn I think it may have been, deep in the Swans 50 late in the game was also very telling from the skipper.:thumbsu:

Probably better than all those you mentioned below.

I have to say while he had some great moments, tonight VB dished out a fair amount of garbage too - not what I expect from someone who is Captain. There's been a fair amount of criticism about his captaincy and IMO most of it has been valid - despite those nice moments tonight didn't change anything.

Great last quarter and good to see him able to stand up in a game where Thommo struggled a little and possibly even get more votes than him for once.

His first half was horrendous though. Really, really sub-par disposal and quite a few clangers. Good to see him drag himself out of the rut and pull off that last quarter.

Horrendous is a massive statement for disposal in those conditions and complete bullsh!t . Really sick of people making stuff up just to suit their old old stories.

VBs game was better than good last night, which is why most pundits named him in the best players. He had 8 disposals in the worst of the conditions in the first quarter alone, when a statement had to be made. Some of those came from hard fought contested possesions of which he had 10 for the night.

Just for the record Thomo is a better footballer, but thats no reason to underate and lambast our captain.
