Pick 10 and a pick in the 20’s was 2 firsts
Go listen to his podcast, you dumb f***.

He literally stops Maclure from repeating the two firsts lie, especially after Maclure tries to suggest Cleary was the one reporting it.

His whole point was to point out that two firsts is wrong!!

This is actually from a journalist, not some dumbly click baiter.

He says he thinks it was "a tenner and something else, maybe in the 20s".

He is trying to remember - and maybe he means pick 29, which is currently what we hold from Melbourne.

But MUCH more likely is he is remembering that we offered 14 and McAdam and probably bumped it to 10 and McAdam.

I'm sure MELBOURNE asked for two firsts, but it just isn't logical that the Crows would offer it.

Lol.

So you ignore the reports you don’t like; find a different one that you casually don’t pay attention to, wrongly assume it agrees with you when it doesn’t; and now you think what they really meant was…

What they really meant, being different to what was said

It seems a lot of what happened in your perspective exists solely in the ether of your assumption and imagination ;)

There is a reason ALL objective sources disagree with you - and it’s not because they meant something different to what was said
YOU DON'T HAVE A SOURCE

THERE IS THE HEAD OF FOOTBALL FOR CHANNEL 7 OPENLY DENYING IT WHEN SOMEONE SAYS HE REPORTED IT

GIVE IT UP

Except he didn’t it, he confirmed it.

A minor detail worth dwelling on ;)
Maclure says "you reported it was two firsts"

He denies that it was two firsts.

You're the one going, ah but picks in the 20s often become first rounders due to compensation and Academy selections do bee do

HE SAID IT WASN'T TWO FIRSTS

He obviously didn't mean "something in the 20s" to mean another first BECAUSE THAT'S TWO FIRSTS AND HE SAID IT WASN'T TWO FIRSTS.

Lol, stop twisting things to get it to line up with your fixed world view

Odd how this whole thing has blown up and shows how chronic the recency bias is in football media. If we offered Melbourne a pick in the teens and a pick in the 20s (whatever round that fell in) for a 23-year-old KPD who can go forward and had just come off a strong season, it's a bit overs but not terrible considering we'd just lost Doedee, Murray was out with an ACL and we still would've had a 1st rounder + the Doedee end of 1st rd. pick.

Now that he can't get a kick being played out of position (he's definitely a backman who can swing forward in a pinch rather than a full time forward) and our KPD stocks are surprisingly stacked, everyone is screaming.

Bit of a non story really.

Wow, a lot of passive/aggressiveness to wake up to this morning.
I'm guessing some posts have been deleted, given someone is missing again...

Can't believe all the fuss over a trade that was never going to happen.

I'm still more disappointed we couldn't get Oliver.

I'm more worried that the trade might actually happen this year.

It would be imbecilic but unfortunately we've got form in that regard.

I highly doubt it will, it only ever seemed insurance in case Murray struggled in his return. Also had no idea Keane would continue to improve like he has, or even Borlase providing good coverage at either end of the ground. Circumstances have changed significantly since then and obviously Petty isn't commanding any significant trade capital after his 2024 season.

I hope you're right.

Interesting insult

I think everyone always conveniently forgets we got Carlton's second round back which was effectively just a small pick swap.

Did it work? No, but everyone claiming it was just two first rounders doesn't tell the full story.
At the time, it looked like our first would be 16 or so, and their second would be around 20.

Didn't work, but when the trade was made it wasn't as rubbish as it seems with hindsight.

I'm fine with Keane and a second going to Collingwood, something going to Melbourne and us getting Petty.
I wouldn’t be wasting any draft or trade capital on Petty or any other KPD really. It's the easiest position find - for every Weitering there's 20 Harris Andrews' (4th rd) or Jeremy McGoverns (rookie). Our KPDs are 4 rookies and a 2nd rounder. Even if Petty takes a spot ahead of Keane, Butts and Borlase (certainly not Murray or Worrell) is it worth spending even a 2nd or 3rd round pick on making that move? That's not even taking Curtin into consideration. Enough spending high draft picks on defenders (or grunt mids); when you spend high, buys rolls royces.

Especially after we struck out so badly on the FA front. They will want a good news story and I can see them doing something to destroy the club in their haste

I think people forget we actually swapped second round picks. Let’s make this really clear, we gave up two first round picks with a minor upgrade of our second.

It was a terrible trade made worse when he didn’t want to play for us. Sadly the major players in that deal still hold power to be involved in this years trade.
