Smith is yet another Forward/Ruck, played almost exclusively as a KPF for WWT U18's and at the LionsVFL. he's mostly only done minimal rucking and seems the Lions see him more as a KPF/chop out ruck, generally Darcy Fort and Kallin Lane are preferred when available.
The draft option this year would likely be local lad Alex Dodson if he makes up his mind to pursue an AFL career over his basketball, currently in the Australian AIS Basketball squad and missed the 1st Nationals game when attending an AIS camp in the U.S. Given the lack of decent ruck prospects in this draft he'll be in strong demand if he does choose the AFL career pathway.

Yeah just looking at his VFL stats, he's hit the scoreboard with 49 goals from his 50 VFL games.
His last 12 months or so looks like this;

I wonder if it's worth exploring a 50-50 type arrangement with his (Smith's) type and a Thilthorpe. Would give flexibility, no over-reliance on one of them, and potential to workover some of the other solo rucks in the comp.

Does he come from a good family?

Doedee got us band two compensation. That's end of first round.

Melbourne traded us their future second rounder for McAdam. Not equivalent to a pick in the 20s.
This is splitting hairs.

End of first round and the start of the second round are the same pick.

As of today, Melbourne are 10th on the ladder. According to Lore, that makes the pick we hold 29.

Are they sparring him from the bulk of the ruck as well while he grows into his body?

Not many 18 y.o. players can play as the number 1 rick even at lower levels, plus being able to add an extra dimension with forward craft is a massive bonus

He's over a 100kg as of 2023, he's no longer the 82kg beanpole they drafted

He was fumbling to remember exactly what it was, but went out of his way to say it was INCORRECT to say two firsts.

He was AT BEST referring to the Doedee pick, which is at the start of the second round - but realistically was McAdam, the obvious "value in the 20s" asset we were holding.

Give it up.

There's a million things you can use to confirm your ongoing position about the club's incompetence. You don't need something that obviously isn't true.

Lol.

So you ignore the reports you don’t like; find a different one that you casually don’t pay attention to, wrongly assume it agrees with you when it doesn’t; and now you think what they really meant was…

What they really meant, being different to what was said

It seems a lot of what happened in your perspective exists solely in the ether of your assumption and imagination ;)

There is a reason ALL objective sources disagree with you - and it’s not because they meant something different to what was said

Go listen to Cleary say definitively that we DIDN'T offer two firsts, when he corrects Maclure.

Maclure literally says that Cleary said we offered two firsts and Cleary stops him to correct him, which is shocking for a beta like him to do.

"I think it was a pick tenner and something else, like something in the 20s."

31:50.

Something in the 20’s is a first

Rinse and repeat

Were we offering picks we didn’t have?

Go try looking at what we actually had. That should make it pretty easy to follow
Would depend on when Mitch Cleary made that report. Until we traded them to Gold Coast for pick 14 and Chris Burgess, we held picks 23 and 26.

Think we need to stop worrying about the semantics of the hypothetical Petty trade last year.

It was desperate then, and stinks now.

I'm more interested to know what we may have hypothetically offered to prise out Oliver last year. AT least he addresses an actual need.
Well it wouldn't have been two firsts, we never offer that

Caro reckons Elliot Yeo to North Melbourne on big dollars

North got our man...
Sounds like Colin Young telling people that Adelaide were into him didn't get West Coast to lift their offer, so now he's trying it with North Melbourne as his patsies.

Truth: Yeo isn't leaving West Coast, Colin Young is just trying to get West Coast to give him a better offer - for what is almost certainly the last contract of his AFL career.
