Nah they still have the Demons and Saints in the nation wide "Break the hoodoo" tour

But the VFL hate Adelaide and would love to rub in a Dangerfield premiership into the city, and as for a Ablett premiership, well we all know why

No doubt at all that is an advantage for the non Vic sides, it still doesn’t ever balance out that on that last day in September playing for the premiership against a Vic side that the Vic side has a big advantage. The exact same advantage the non Vic sides have playing at home. It is real and it is there. It is only the really great footy sides that have overcome it.

Yes, only the really great sides overcome this disadvantage. Like Hawthorn in the Prelim v Freo a few years ago.

Back on topic finally though (home ground at the MCG on GF day). The thread is misleadingly implying that Vic teams have beaten interstate teams in ten of the last eleven Grand Finals. In fact its only occurred in the past 3-4 years. Not enough of a sample set for a convincing argument that interstate teams cant win premierships.

Bottom line and people seem to conveniently ignore this....Geelong and Hawthorn (seven flags between them) are two of the greatest teams of all time. Of course stats will skew in the favour of VIc teams when teams like HAwthorn and Geelong dominate. Just like Brisbane and Port Sydney and West Coast sharing all those flags around the early 2000's

Point being if your mediocre its easier to make finals. Naturally you get found out in September , being mediocre and all....
You’re right. We are more likely to play finals if we are mediocre and get found out.

But when we are contending we are more likely to lose the grand final if we come up against a Vic team on their home ground when it really matters

Tenant schmenant.

Its neutral when any of the ten Vic teams play each other at the G or at Etihad. The only Vic teams to have a genuine home ground advantage against other Vic teams is Geelong at Geelong

The disadvantage interstate teams get from travel is offset by the massive home ground advantage they receive against Vic teams who dont travel as often or as well. A good middle of the road interstate team can win 8 out of ten home games, one derby, and three easy road trips and still easily limp into the finals without a lot of effort. Vic teams only get 3-4 games a year with genuine home state advantage , offset by 3-4 road trips and the rest are neutral (Geelong excepted)
North, Saints and the Dogs only play at the MCG twice a year. You still have home ground advantage over them too

So why would you argue that the Dogs had a home ground advantage against the Swans?
First off I never argued that point. But there is still an advantage for them not having to travel and a bit more home crowd support. There was no home ground advantage for them at all, but they did have the afl media on their side and undoubtedly got the rub of the green from the umps.

If the 2015 dogs played the 2016 tigers then it would be pretty safe to say that the dogs would win at Etihad and the Tigers would win at the MCG. Then the tigers would win the flag due to their home ground advantage

Again, absolute rubbish.

There is no discernable home ground advantage at either MCG or Etihad in games involving Vic teams. All Vic teams are very familiar with both venues.
They only play there twice a year! How can they be very familiar with the MCG?

A Collingwood player may have 42 games at the MCG after a few years while a North, Saints or Dogs player only has 6. There is a huge gap in familiarity there.

North, Saints and the Dogs are the only VIC clubs that don’t hold home ground advantage on grand final day

Maybe not home ground but home city/state is almost as good.

You’ll never win a premiership with this mentality.

Massive victim mentality creeping into interstate clubs’ psyche... it’s a worrying trend.

North, Saints and the Dogs get bent over because they don’t have a home ground advantage over the other Vic clubs as they all play at Etihad at least 4 times every year while they only get 2 games a year at the MCG.

Besides the travel a GF against them is nuetral

Travel is pretty big.
So is not having your fans have to buy airfares and accomodation.

Don’t agree with the statement?

Nope. It’s never been an issue until a small handful of results went against them.

If WC wins he flag next year, we rightfully won’t hear about this issue for another 10 years.

Only like 20,000 of a Grand Final crowd is actually members of the “home” team.

Stop making excuses for why you’re not good enough.

Okay.

So halfway through the 3rd quarter, when Richmond steamrolled Adelaide, the fact Adelaide’s members had to pay for airfares was “big”?

Get a grip.

Settle pettle. No one is taking away your flag.
But to say theres no advantage against interstate sides with an MCG GF is ridoculous.

It’s only an advantage if the interstate sides are psychologically weak and buckle under the pressure of noise.

How come no Vic sides can take down Geelong at KP?

The exact same reason interstate sides struggle to beat you guys on Grand Final day
