Without a doubt, from what I've seen and I've watched every colts game, plus this excellent highlights package, it seems clear that Newick is probably a shade better than a handful of the players who made the WA state 18's squad.

I think he's worth looking at very closely with his power, tackle breaking ability and acceleration.

Wilson has huge potential, his positives outweigh his weaknesses by a mile. Recruiters should be able to see this, and let's be real, most other potential draftees have 'some' area of their game or a physical attribute they need to work on.

Another of the lads I’ve mentioned, elite foot skills, high energy and always moving. Would love to see some gps stats from his games, always seems to be moving quicker than all other players in his area

Broadbent not getting an invite is shocking. From being one of the best for the Academy in their game this year to not even being his club's first choice ruckman. Still feel like he should get drafted, ruckmen are hard to find, but unfathomable his drop this year so far.

The AFL may add him in later, but he is a rookie selection at best these days. He will have to sit on a list for a very long time before making it at AFL level. Just not sure it is worth spending high draft capital on such a player.
 
Surprised Cleaver didn't get an invite, out of the EF boys, Cleaver has more upside then Hagan...the latter is talented for sure, but for the demands of AFL, Cleaver looks more likely to cope.... see traits of ex EF draftee Trent Rivers in the young fella.

ok thanks for the info...damn...that's awful. Saw two awful things on the weekend. One was the injury to Gilbey and the other the sling tackle applied on the mercurial Lance Collard (S) - where he didn't move for quite some time afterwards.

Tough time for these boys as they head into combine and draft. Of course they have to play but such bad luck for them if they cop a bad injury.

Yeah, at least the clubs looked outside the state squad a "tiny" bit.

But I'm convinced more than ever that if a player doesn't get in the state squad and thus play in the national championships, his chances of getting noticed are slim - all on the wim of 3 or 4 selectors. That's a lot of power they exert and it could launch a career or stifle one.
