Gavin Bell on SEN just said they haven’t asked for a postponement of this weekend’s game against east Fremantle and doesn’t know where that story came from

I’m not sure how they field a team but that’s what he said
Its a minimum of 3 players isn't it? Surely we can scrape that. Dewar plus the emergency that flies back on Saturday is 2.

Oh well. You have missed some decent footy then…

Thats cool, you probably never saw the WAFL in it's heydey. I like watching both but I am guessing I have a few years on you.

Possibly I’ve always had the eagles in my life time so I wouldn’t know what it was like back then, all I know is right now there’s a big gap between AFL and WAFL

Yes there is a gap, it is funny how AFL listed players struggle to get a kick in the WAFL though!!!

I'd have to say more struggle in the two's than stand-up and demand an AFL game by performing well.

Used to be the standard that anyone coming back from injury went into the two's for a 1/2 game to test out the injury. Now with all the tickets Simmo has issued they come straight back into the team and soon thereafter go back out with another injury.

My belief is in this situation we should ask Perth Demons to merge with us one more time. If they say no, the next West Coast Social event should be a Lathlain Park bonfire and for 25 bucks you can get a plate of hot food and take a piss on the ashes of the ground

Time to get tough
Yeah lets burn down our very expensive headquarters that we just moved into....that'll show em

To be fair, some sort of burning cleansing ceremony to appease the evil spirits whose eternal resting places we’ve disturbed is probably a good idea.

WAFL Eagles need to be abandoned surely , at least until the injury crisis is over , putting young players in impossible situations .
Nisbett needs to be resign been great for WC but this concept isn't working and not workable going forward .
Need a dream run with very few injuries to be competitive.

Being serious again.A alignment is much better to manage then a stand alone side.Unfortunately i do not think West coast managed it the right way. When they were aligned with east perth there was so much garbage.Cat b and players from under 19's gifted games in the wafl league team regardless at the start of the season. It is a big step up from Tac colts to wafl league unless they are Chris Judd.Second mistake is playing senior players in wafl league when they are coming back from long term injuries. You can play them in the true wafl ressies on managed minutes.Thirdly not being allowed to drop certain players to the wafl reserves.East Perth wanted to drop Tom Lamb but were not allowed to do it.

The Dockers manage their alignment so much better. On the weekend 13 dockers players played.!0 played in the league and 3 played in the reserves who comprised either cat b or first year players.Last year Sebit Keuk played ressies because of team balance or he would have taken the place of a senior Peel player. He was never going to play Afl last year so they made the right decision.

For stand alone to work i would think at least six wafl/sanfl/vfl standard players would be the ideal.Even back in the alignment days there may heve been a couple of times when only 5 or 6 eagles played and a couple of times 16 eagles played The average was 10-12 eagles.I don't think you can stockpile 20 wafl/vfl/sanfl standard players who may only play 2-3 games a year.

Whilst I think a merge with Perth Football Club makes the most sense, I cannot see it happening. I also am battling to remember when Perth was a club that was in the finals. Somehow saying Murray Cooper will date me but there again so are the Demon’s aspirations.

Duffield floated the West Coast/Bunbury Eagles as WAFL team. That actually has a lot of merit. It would mean a reserves and colts structure that evens up all three grades. Yes there would be a bunch of things to agree on and a load to work through with the Black Ducks and it would be a rich vein of talent for our indigenous NGA prospects (Freo can have the Pilbara).

The opportunity for the kids to run around, have a kick on the oval in the breaks, and still watch a decent standard of footy, in daylight, is a plus my kids had and now my grandkids. Opposed to sitting in the 5th level, boxed in, squirming in their seat. Totally different experience.

We were in it a few seasons back, but then Logan McDonald was drafted and we reverted to type.
OK. Let me then re-write the point.

You have to go back to 1978 to find Perth playing in a Grand Final. That is nearly 50 years ago since Perth can say that they were seriously likely to get a flag.

Their team comprised a couple of AFL/VFL greats in Bosustow and Wiley who are now both in their late 60's.

To quote the late John Elliott - "a club with a sad and tragic history"

Who gives a shit what East Perth think?

If they want a opinion, they can reject our money so they no longer need to hear it

If they want our money they basically need to respect our opinion

This situation is no different to me buying your house of you and you saying "Thanks, but oh you cant live here, im still going to live here, you can visit on weekends, but you cant bring your dog and if you come you need to bring drinks and flowers for the house. Just try not to come over however, I dont want you here" . Its the ultimate example of wanting the money but none of the sacrifice

If you aint willing to make the sacrifice then you get none of the money. THat is the way to go here. It will never happen though because Nisbett is a weak gutless piece of shit
