Hate to say it but Schammer was very good today. His ball use by foot in particular was impressive.

He wasn't poking his kicks like he normally does, extended his follow through and hit up targets in dangerous spots.

Whether that's the result of training or the knowledge that he's not really fighting for a spot is anyone's guess, either way a standout game in what was a fairly high class contest today.

Either GG has stooped to lowest level of trolling OR Schamwow actually done something to earn a call up!!!

How bad timing is that though, he could have shocker next week and all the hard work undone and miss a chance for the Sydney game.

People calling for Sibo to play are idiotic. He has played well in 1 game this year. How doess that mean he derserves to play.

Sorry to the Sibo fanboys but Latro is right in this instance, 1 game doesn't deserve a callup. Particularly when 2 weeks before the club had to fight tooth & nail to stop him from being dropped back to the reserves. Just plain ludicrous.
Not only this but it was largely mentioned that while he kicked a few he's still lauded for his laziness in plays when he doesn't have the ball. Even in Lloydy's sugarcoated reviews he mentions this.

If we get to a stage in our season where;

the rest of the games are meaningless with no possibility of finals

OR

we have a game like the game against Hawthorn last year and want to rest players while giving some fringe guys a look in

OR

Sibbo has consistent good form that warrants selection over Johnson, Bradley, Anthony, Bucca and Houghton

OR

MacPharlin, Grover or SNOS get injured ending their season

give him a game. If not, then let him keep developing at wafl, get hungry, learn how to impose himself, and elevate at the end of the year.

This sums it up, he's gonna have to show some consistency like everyone else before he gets a callup, even then the stars will have to allign.

Next year is going to be an absolute bumper of a draft. So many good 17yo kids coming out. From WA you have Garlett, O'Meara, Yarran, Taylor, Carter, Lynch etc..

Mason Shaw looks a huge prospect also and could be a bolter over the next year also. 1994 kid so not eligible until next year, 197cm, 82kg, has kicked bags of 7 goals, 4 goals, and 6 goals over his last 3 games for Souths (colts), 27 goals over his last 7 games, as well as rotating through the ruck.

Did anyone watch Pitt on the weekend? Seems to have had a very disappointing game. Maybe he's due for a rest. Has gone from a great game in round 4 with 24 possessions vs North, to now struggling to attract the ball at Perth??

Exactly. Even though no one can doubt his skill and potential he has had three years to work out the effort and commitment needed to succeed at AFL. It seems that he has not even worked out the level needed to be successful at WAFL. Based on this i honestly cant see any other outcome than him being delisted. Unless of course, he has been guaranteed a spot on the senior list and and is just coasting?

He has had a few injury interruptions that seemed to rob him of momentum when he started to show a bit. Could become a more then handy player, with a little luck, but a lot of hard work. It's his last chance now to work towards a spot on the list.

IMO Walters could become trade bait this year. Seems to have fallen out of favour with selectors. As accurate as he is, he can't find his own ball and can't put on the press.

I agree with that. If he wasn't being selected all of the season because of disciplinary reasons then he should be traded. We needed him to step up this year with all of our injuries.

Walters has been injured as well, would be madness to dump a big game player with his skill set.

The Dockers are looking at Jayden Woods apparently. If they are pretty sure they are going to get him i think walters will be shown the door. No good having a skillful player on your list if you can never play him because of disciplinary reasons. Added to the rest who can't play because they can't kick and the other's who can't play because they are too young and the others who can't play because they are too soft.

Longmuir was on hand for a crafty 3 goal performance against the league benchmark from the little fella.

Highlights:
Byron Schammer
It was a very good performance by Byron, with the majority of his disposals effective. He had 30 possessions and seven inside 50s and the highlight of his game was his work at centre bounces, where he won some really solid 50-50 contests and got the ball going Claremont's way. He chased and tackled consistently.

Casey Sibosado
Casey started at centre half-forward for Perth this week and looked lively early, taking some good contested grabs and hitting the contest hard. He demonstrated accurate kicking and finished with five goals for the day. He played a really good game at centre half-back last week and Mark Harvey wanted to see how Casey presented as a forward. Overall, he had a good day.

Jack Anthony
Jack played as a key forward for Subiaco all day, working out of the goalsquare and pushing up to centre half-forward. He was sharp on the lead, showed positive leading patterns and provided good pressure. Jack's genuinely working really hard on his game at the moment but isn't getting the rewards performance wise. That will come in due course.

Peter Faulks
Peter played a solid role in the backline for Peel, only being beaten in three contests for the day and not conceding a goal. He continually spoiled and showed good closing speed on his opponent. He tended to play off his man when the ball was more than 80m away and positioned proactively. It was a positive step on the weekend and he was clearly the best defender on the ground.

Casey is the only one I could really see getting in to the team anytime soon - maybe Faulks if one of McPharlin or Grover need a rest

Anthony possibly - he is definitely working on his forward press to make himself accountable if the ball isn't won

Schammer is forgotten about - as was mentioned a few pages ago

It seems that once you fall out of favour with the selection committee, that's it. for good almost

Good to hear re: Faulks, not a goal scored on him and was clearly the best defender on the ground. Keep doing what you're doing mate!

A bit dissapointing to see Jesse Crichton not working as hard when Peel has the ball. He's played in the main side a bit now so he should know what's expected of him.

I must have been looking at a different game "hitting the contest hard." Agree with the rest though.
