Not going to go into this Buckley coaching debate. It's clear that he can't coach and isn't up to it. But our list is also needing a change.

1) sack bucks ASAP
2) get in a caretaker coach
3) interview several candidates and select thee best option.
4) trade Cloke clear up salary cap room and draft some classy fast flankers
5) trade/delist Sinclair Goldsack Maccaffer Blair wilts. Get what u cN for them
6) target key forward /support ruck
7) clear out all coaching panel burns Harvey hart rocca lockyer
8) only recruit players with foot skills!
10) sack pert and fitness staff
11) hire skills coach
12) hire ruck coach

Make these moves ASAP and let bucks move to a Media role

Sack Pert
(Chief protagonist who brought in his mate Buckley and was not going to take no for an answer)
Review Eddy(he pushed for Pert to be CEO when Eugine Arrocca was the assumed choice)
(Also the inventor of the succession plan-where there is compromise? Nobody is happy!)

Sack? Who ever envisioned trading our 1st round pick for 2016.
It looks to be a No.1 pick.!
What a bozo decision.!

Bring in a SOS or a proper list manager who can scuttle this dysfunctional list and start again.

Agree with a lot said here. To many Collingwood people on the coaching panel. Sinclair should be delisted. Bucks isn't taking us anywhere and stop hiring blokes who can't kick.
Was a big problem within Port Adelaide a couple of years ago wasn't it? They really went into a slide and continued on until they looked outside with their footballing and off field departments.

Very hard for a coach to gain the trust of the list once the faith is lost.

If it hasn't happened yet it certainly is looking like its creeping into the minds of our players.

We really need a button that enables us to block everyone, so that we don't have to read anyone else's idiocy.
I do have one of these - and will probably need to swing it a bit more over the coming weeks I feel!

Not too concerned about attack in the coming weeks.. i want to see solid defensive efforts.

Grind out wins with repeat stoppages from manic tackling. Slow games down.. we will be towelled up every week in free flowing games.

Very little pace and below average foot skills.

First of all. I think that there aren't many pieces of the list missing. But we lack class and polish and speed and that should be addressed through fa/draft/trade. We also need another tall fwd and back.

I've had faith in Bucks for ages but I just can't keep it up anymore. He has to go and he can't coach.

Id like him gone sooner rather then later. Harvey can look after them whilst we interview for coaches.

There is too much Collingwood presence in the coaching panel. It's a boys club to be honest.

Who do we go after to coach?

Think no to Roos too oldschool and defensive.
I like Ratten and Dew. Any other good assistants?
Could we make a godfather offer you can't refuse to one of Bevo Clarko Bolton or Simpson?

I laugh at requests for Ratten.
Another failed coach chosen b/c he was a club great and assumed the job too soon. He even had to coach his former teammates. (Rings a bell doesn't it?)

I will try and not derail this thread by asking a serious question...

Firstly will say that when Roos stated last week that his players looked tired against Essendon, I laughed but today, I am not laughing.

Against Richmond, I noticed some of our players put their hands on their knees sucking in the air and given our poor running against the Saints, the question I would like to put is: are there fitness issues already at Collingwood?

During the NAB games, the Scott brothers both stated that they were playing to the new interchange rules in preparation to the season, not sure we did that until the last NAB game.

Do questions need to be asked of the fitness department again? Scodog10?
I think Bucks actually nailed it when he said that the players will feel like they have really had a dip on Saturday as they would have been exhausted after the loss. They did a heap of running, the problem being it was chasing, not running with the ball or to space to be an option. Our offensive movement and overlap was non existent. Our run to the wings equally so. Unless we were chasing tails, we weren't running. It's amazing how hard a tired player will run when they know they have an easy 'over the back of the defence' goal in the offing. We saw it time and again from St Kilda players.
Thus, I'm not sure fitness is a problem. But obviously game plan or players not playing to the perceived plan or whatever it is that made them look so disinterested on Saturday is the real problem.

Alcohol. Lots of alcohol helped.

How he got that list into finals is beyond me
No pun intended.
Good point. I could say otherwise.
But we're getting off topic.

Oh I forgot..
SACK LEADING TEAMS.
The players hate it.
Destroyed moral and there isno leadership group to speak about.
Use the massive coin that we save and get a ruck coach and find a proper skills coach a.l.a Beverage(2009-2010)

We lack genuine xfactor types. By xfactor im talking ground game xfactor pacey evasive skilled and smart ball users.

Like Dale Thomas when at his best or Jake Stringer or Leon Davis or Cyril rioli or Breust or you get the point.

What would have to be added to that for it to be "many"? Pace, skill KPPs....That's the difference between every bottom and top side for 100 years.

Is there any rule that that stops this if its a top 5 pick?? Or just bad luck

Bored, so knocked this up;

27 PLAYERS AGED UNDER 24 OR LESS. And I'd consider it almost 100% certain that all 27 of these will be on the list next year (barring trades of course);

Fasolo 24
Frost 24
Gault 23
Broomhead 23
Oxley 23
Witts 23
Wyatt 23 (Rookie)
Adams 23
Treloar 23
Elliott 23
Crisp 22
Smith 22 (rookie)
Williams 22
Wills 22
Grundy 22 ( turns 22 on Friday)
Langdon 21
Ramsay 21
Moore 20
Scharenberg 20
De Goey 20
Marsh 20
Aish 20
Goodyear 19
Crocker 19
Phillips 19
Maynard 19
Sier 18

Can also add of course;

Daicos 17
Brown 17

What I'm trying to get it as this "aiming for 2017" thing is a little bit of crap, we are really still a few years off it. Whoever takes over from Bucks as coach (I wanted him to succeed so much, but reality has hit) will take over one of the most talented young lists in the entire AFL.

It's not all doom and gloom, just that we need to stabilise the club at the end of this season (in more positions than just the coaches, bye Balme, hello Maxwell).

It is either:

A) lack of effort from the players; and/or
B) bad game plan/structures/tactics; and/or
C) poor execution of game plan and essential skills by league-wide comparatively unskilled players.

A) is either the players lack of faith with the coach or poor attitude of the players.
B) is wholly a coaching issue.
C) lack of experience/poor recruiting/trading.

If Buckley says that the players are trying then the problem cannot be A).

Then it is either B) or C) or a combination of both.

I think it is a combination of B) and C).

B) A lot of effort for little reward. Very easy for other sides to transition the ball. Poor kick out strategy. This is purely a coaching problem.
C) The game plan requires the players to be the best players in the league. We don't have the best players in the league to execute the game plan that Buckley seeks to implement.

There is also D) confidence/momentum/leadership

We don't have any of it. Our players lack the will to win a contest.

A sneaky one would be Charlie Cameron from the Crows, Absolute electric when on, Eddie Betts steals alot of the aculades at the Crows and rightfully so. The pies have never been the same without the freaks that were Davis, Krakour, Didak, Thomas, and lesser extent Medhurst.

The problem is that either they are poorly coached or they are all C/B graders. Not many A-graders there.

We have too many Medhurst types.

Elliott, Howe and Fasolo are all in the medhurst mold.

It's the ground types we lack like your aforementioned 4.

Ratten did extremely well with the list he had, almost got a team missing 5-6 of its best 22 to finals in his final year.

Has spent several years in Hawthorn's system.

Has a reputation of being an extremely good motivator of players and maintaining great relationships.
