I'd absolutely go. Ask him why he'd stand against Tredrea given how important it is given that the protest vote against David Koch is successful. Ask him if he's just another Koch stooge and if he's not, why is he muddying the waters here?

Stooge was the first word that came to my mind. Even the Fertiliser views Abber's candidacy as a means to split the "protest vote" to enable Kathy Nagel to retain her seat.

This is in direct contradiction of the advice given to potential board members about soliciting votes.

I wonder what Koch will do...

How did he get the group emails to solicit?
Not taking sides, but I imagine it is only ONE email for the Melbourne supporter group that he obtained. That would be freely available to them both.

The real issue is, should he be electioneering at all!

Kevin Monteleone had his post on Port Adelaide True Believers Facebook site pulled down earlier today. See it at post

That doesn't happen unless there is pressure from the club - as has happened on this forum on the rare occasion.

But Kevin has hit back and posted on his own Facebook page. See below, but first I will post Barry Curtin's reply and great response to his dopey post.

I don't know if a bomb has been dropped or the bush fire has just got out of control but the club has lost control of the narrative.

For those who don't know Kevin, he was the part owner of La Vita restaurant on Grange Road, then sold out his share but stayed on as manager. All the Port players for over a decade have eaten and socialised there, as do other sporting teams based in the west inc the crows, Adelaide United and 36ers. Kevin has 1,800 face book friends not to mention the influential ones tied up with Port, but not on Facebook. Kevin left La Vita mid 2023.

Seems recent Rucci InDaily article was a deliberate omission of critical journalistic information, particularly in making a decision for a governance position at an AFL club. Also, he is commenting on his club, this is mafia hit job. Seeing this post by Kevin Monteleone I am Surprised the AFL have not stepped in to disallow Abernathy applying to the board. Seems a strange play by Abernathy and/or the club- to support a nominee who was previously exited due to questionable business ethics. What is the play? Are ex board members mounting a plan to get back on the board? Why was there a defence by Duncanson In the article? Was Abernathy on footy committee when Cassissi appointed as captain? all smells fishy.

Just trying to work out the politics 🇦😨. Maybe I will just stick with supporting my Gunners in the EPL, just woke up to a 5-0 win 💪

Yeah, I don’t get it at all. It’s not like Bruce’s first tilt was hamstrung or cruelly cut short by unforeseen circumstances, illness or the like.

He was a board member for seven seasons!

Get out the way and let Tredrea put his money where his mouth is.

Don't believe the propaganda. He's running because the club have asked him to run with the reasoning for that very obvious.

It's not electioneering.
Just observing pastoral-like care for his potential constituents, and giving them the facts.

There are very well connected people within the Port Adelaide network who have connected these political dots just as you have.

If Aber gets on, Duncanson and Cassisi are the next two dominoes. They're quietly trying to get the old band back together - the very incompetent buffoons who nearly sent the club broke to begin with.

Well Kochie has no succession plan, he cannot think about anything but himself. If this is the case re the band, kill me now.

Surely clubs have a constitution that prevent disasters like that. From memory didNT the band appoint Primus as coach over Chris Scott and Cassisi as captain?

Given there are only two member elected positions available and the remainder of the board are AFL appointed it is going to be difficult to get the pre-Koch board back in place. Even if they take both member elected positions they're not going to have the majority required to be able to recommend their cronies to the AFL for appointment.

Yes, but I don't think that was a choice they would have made if the financial situation was different to what it was at the time.

and Cassisi as captain

There was definitely board influence on this decision. Be good to know why they felt this was the right direction.

Choco was very open about wanting Shaun Burgoyne as captain but the board overruled him.

Yes, but why. What was the reticence to have Shaun as captain and conversely why Cassisi instead?

Curb Choco's influence?
Shaun wasn't ready?
Cassisi wasn't part of a 'faction'?
