Watching Collingwood Live Overseas?

The one truly lacking thing in Canada has always been no access to spirits in a can. They do vodka cruisers but no serious man drinks those. So after 4 years (I dont drink beer) of missing out, I walk into the bottle shop and see JD&Cola in a can on the shelf.

So, finally some traditional football watching in Canada this week for me.....Fish and Chips with a 6pack of drinks was consumed for 25 Friday nights every year. Problem is I will have to start drinking at 5am on Sunday Morning.....

This thread is nice. More resources to add to my repetoire. From China because I don't like to pay for things at the best of times there is this torrent site (totally free) that has always served me well.

Most games/AFL TV Shows uploaded within 24 hours of the event. So if you are happy to wait a day then this is the place.

Edit: PM me if you want links details.

Re: Watching the Pies Live O/S

It depends where you will be overseas, but this link should help. If you're going to Europe, then apart from Live AFL TV online, there is also coverage through Eurosport 2. There is also this web site that can help with Australians in London if you're there, and may be able to give some info on where the footy shown. You can also contact other Australians through Aussie Rules Europe, and then clicking on the country you will be in for more information.

Here in the US, footy is also shown online through Live AFL TV, and there are also three live matches per week online through ESPN 3. One of those three matches is also shown live on telly through ESPN 2, and more info can be found here. There are a number of Aussie pubs too around the continent that show the footy live too. Here in New York City there is The Sunburnt Cow, and The Australian (ease up on the grog there Julia) amongst others.

AWESOME!! I will be heading through Europe from August 4th to 23rd, so i'll have to sus out the euro locations for these, but i'll be in NYC for the round 23 Freo game.

Would these bars be open then, i think the game would start about 6:40am. Which of these would you recommend KS??

ESPN UK shows three matches live each week with "original" commentating (not like that rubbish on Eurosport 2) + round highlights show on Mondays, but they don't really broadcast Pies games every week...

Eurosport 2 broadcasts only one game per week with a round highlights show on Mondays also.

Plus there's this website where you can find pubs/caffes across Europe that provide live streaming: www.findmethefooty.com

PM for unofficial live streaming links!

Thought it may be worth adding that SEN have an iPhone application available for free that picks up their stream where ever you are, nationally or internationally, via the web

figured most would know it as they advertise it on the station, but if you don't listen to the station you wouldn't know!

they don't broadcast all pies games but you can use the official match day program the club releases to find out if it's on SEN or not

Great thread!

KS not sure if you can recommend any places to watch games from.

I'll be in LA for round 20, NYC for round 21 and Boston for round 22.

Think LA will be about 2am there against Port Adeliade. Not sure if I'll bother unless I can get it at my hotel as I only have a few days there and don't want to be too tired for Disneyland!!!

NYC and Boston I think will be about 5 am when the games start. Happy to get up early and go to a pub or anywhere that you think will show games.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Watching the Pies Live O/S

I'd encourage everyone to use liveafl.tv, the official live streaming. Nothing against any alternatives, but the more people get onboard, and the more feedback they get, the more they'll take it seriously.

It's a big step up this year, as opposed to last, they've sorted out a few technical hiccups (e.g., Mac compatibility), but they still have a way to go to build it into a great footy-watching experience ... for example, it goes blank during the ad breaks.

Though when you have to sit through regional ads for garden and building supplies, perhaps not such a bad thing.

Can someone please PM me a link to an unofficial stream of tonights game?

2 weeks in a row the Pies haven't been on any live TV here in Sydney! Being from Melbourne, I'm just not used to this. I am having serious piedrawals.

Thanks for that. I have been waiting for an afl site..:thumbsu:

Re: watching the 'pies live O/S

Heading to Europa, so I'll check that out. Cheers Daics

I watched the Grand Final and Grand Final Replay in Berlin and Paris respectively. There are a few Aussie pubs around in the bigger cities like those but I couldn't find a place in Belgium, so I had to go to Paris instead... Which I was fine with :D:thumbsu:

It took me a while to find them, but a lot of googling gets there.

The Camelia Grove Hotel in Alexandria show the Collingwood games live - it's fairly close to your location of Surry Hills.

They get a small crowd of 'Pies supporters to each game, with sometimes a small handful of opposition to add to the atmosphere. It's civilised - a bunch of supporters in the AFL desert wilderness that is Sydney who are just grateful to be able to watch their team play live.

Just found out at late notice that i'll be up in Mackay for the game. Anyone who could help me with info on how to watch it in Qld would be much appreciated.

Anyone? Whats the TV scheduling like? Is it even getting shown?

Thanks, that is pretty cool :D

I may have to head down there if I am ever stuck.

Kirribilli club @ Milsons Point always put the Pies game up on a big screen if it is live on foxtel or FTA, as one of the directors is a supporter. $4 basic spirits ($3.60 with the members 10% off), and a beautiful view of the Harbour Bridge, hard to go wrong!

... not to mention the view on the bigscreen of Cloke taking a pack busting grab in the goal square! :)
