So basically we will almost definitely be ordinary this year in your opinion?
Kind of a morose view to take.
To each their own I guess but a bit harsh on a bunch of 2nd and 3rd year players.

Again it's each to their own but I dare say you may have used a lot of other adjectives to describe gws over the last few years that would be more colourful than ordinary !
They are a young list like us no doubt - but if you are being serious and judging them against the other 17 clubs they have been ordinary!

There has been a lot of love on here for Bailey Dale, so I thought it best to watch his highlight package again.

I know that most TAC cup guys could put together a highlight reel, but the precision kicking here is exceptional, as is his awareness in traffic. Not sure who the bloke was that split the left foot pass into the F50 (but my guess is he's playing bush somewhere in 2015). My only Q mark is contested ball. The kid looks (and sounds like) a real talent!

hey sorry to be a pain, I wanted to go to a training session next week (first time) and noticed there's an open and closed training session, what's the difference? Is it just ones indoor and the others outdoor?
Cheers guys

Closed training usually means training outdoors with no public access to the ground at all so that all secret squirrel activities can be conducted away from the prying eyes of those that don't need to know. That of course doesn't preclude viewing by other means if you are really keen.

The other is...well, the opposite of the above.

Well unless you are Fronk and then it's irrelevant closed or open. :D

And that's where he should be. If he's effective in there then that's a plus. I see him, Libba and Bonts as the ones that need to shoulder most of the inside work and because of Bonts age, Libba and Wallis need to be the workhorses. I know Stevens and Boyd will get runs on the inside but neither are my preferred options.
.

I am not convinced on Stevens either but with so many young mids he could be important to do a lot of the heavy work and give the pups a rest. At this time last year he was flying by the reports from training and the practice games. During the year he hardly fired a shot. By reports he is not as dominant this year and i am not sure what his long term future is.

Half forward/rotating on the ball midfielder

Not really. I tend to see it as comparing apples to oranges. Comparing GWS to Hawthorn or Geelong doesn't make sense to me. Comparing GWS' second year in the competition with GC's makes far more sense.
In the same way comparing us to North or Fremantle isn't very meaningful as their age and experience profile dwarfs ours but comparing us to teams of similar level of experience makes more sense.

Massively underrated "ok" player. Most of the AFL teams are full of them and he is as good as any of the B-C catagory players on any list bar GWS and its encyclopaedic list of first round draftees. He's a good half forward - mid rotator who will never be a champ but deserves his career.

Everyone seems to have played at least one full intra-club game before the NAB challenge except us...? I know we've been doing match-simulation stuff but is this a mistake on the part of the coaching staff or just a sign that due the late appointment of Beveridge we are running behind and need more training rather than simulation?

Likely late development and the chance to mix two events in one to get a major attendance and profit for the club

Yeah they have...
Weird comment.

Do you not watch VFL football?

'In the VFL' ffs. We talking about senior AFL footy here or are we discussing Footscray in the VFL? Two completely different things. I'd wager that pretty much every player on our list has played CHF if we wanted to go back far enough. Give me a spell.

Secondly, it's important to note that, unfortunately, being named at CHF on the team sheet and actually playing the position aren't necessarily the same thing. The same concept applies whereby just standing 50m out from goal at centre bounces as opposed to 20-30m out doesn't turn you into a CHF, either.

Roberts played chf/ff for his entire tac cup career

And yet, he is being groomed as a backman and has played all his senior footy for us in the back half...

Well for the first two years he was groomed as a forward but due to lack of stock in defense he started playing down back
Like what we did to Panos.
