I think they will train there as in pre season. Playing games there would depend on an aflw fixture and wouldn't be next year I wouldn't think. We would need to make a case and for that we need to have the place completed

No chance of the boys training this year, they still have to build a grandstand on the site and no builder is taking the risk of injuring a player while they have the site (not to mention there won't be any changing rooms or showers/toilets)

I heard the club was hopeful of hosting a couple of Women's matches next season (I.e. 2025).

If the project continues well over balance of this year I suspect they will pitch for a game or two there to open things up before the boys start pre-season training

We had our suburban ground ripped up and drainage installed then resurfaced and it was all completed in the off-season and we did our last few weeks of pre-season on it and were playing games round 1. This was for seniors, 2nds and 3rds, under 19s, and junior club too u13,u14,u15,16 and u17s so it go a heap of training and matches.

A) the developer/builder would allow the club any use of any facilities for insurance reasons

B) the club would want access as that could possibly open a can of worms if there’s any slight incident or disagreement.

When the contract is signed by both parties it is essentially handing ownership of the land to the builder.
On completion it’s handed back.

If HFC start using the facility before it’s handed back, the builder could walk away leaving a messy court battle.

It’s a risk that both parties are unlikely to take.
If they did, it would be a signed agreement with very limited access & to a strict boundary

That makes more sense, my question was related to the grass as Mr Lizard said it would be un settled and uneven.

The handover from the builders seems to be more the issue as it's still a construction site. I've done some work recently where different sections of a site have been handed over while others fenced off. So I was able to complete my work on 1 building/area of a site yet to get access to other areas I needed to get a white card and have the builders escort me to location and control my hours of access etc..

Dingley site is huge so I could see the potential for the playing surface to be ready on main oval but AFLW grandstand and the training facilities to still be under construction. Either way probably doesn't matter as the idea is for completion in 2nd half of 2025 so i'd imagine we'd be hoping to move in by pre-season for 2026 season.

Can take or as long or as little as they decide. Ideally you give it a month at least to establish and sow together, but grounds in the US particularly and also grounds like the G here can resurface the entire oval over a couple days and use machinery to sow the sods together and technically have it ready for play days later

Yeah but just because you can doesn't mean you should especially when you're dealing with the livelihood of players doing and ACL due to unstable turf. There's no rush and they should take as long as is needed to get it right for our men's and women's teams. As they say good things come to those who wait.

You really cannot see ANYTHING from the street. From Old Dandenong Rd you will be able to see the building but that's it, the ground is below and behind that. From Tootal rd you have a fence > hill > trees > driveway > AFLW ground > Grandstand > driveway > then the main training oval. It will be the most private ground in the AFL, it's also a complete no fly zone so any clubs looking to fly drones overhead will be out of luck.

There are 3 types of drone user classes. Recreational, Commercial exemption and REOC. You would think Hawthorn would be Commercial Exemption. However there are licensed drone operators (REOC) that are able to do these flights with pre-approval from airport. The Drone Videographer would likely have this drone pilots license.

When looking at the Maps Recrational and Commercal excluded is listed as "DO NOT FLY" and REOC gets "Fly with Caution"


So basically that means that Collingwood would NOT be able to send a spy drone over the KCC on grand final week. BTW we had drones watching West Coast training in 2015.
