Looking at our list of players that haven't really shown us what they have got is actually pretty exciting. Last year i was going through our list and thinking that we do not have that much apart from the obvious top draft picks.

But looking through now bower is showing a lot, jamison what a star he could be, grigg showing great signs, hampson could be a very good ruckman, jacobs another ruck option with promise, austin another defender with potential, anderson looks to be a good player, clinton benjamin a defender/midfielder looks to be a big boy, Browne really looking forward to his debut great to have some run off the backline, armfield love the look of him, jake edwards he has potential.

Anyway i just thought a discussion on our young list would be good to hear different opinions on these types of players ie:

Who do you see as the future stars?
What positions would you develop them in?
Who will make it?
Who doesnt have a spot in the side?

Any thoughts?

The thought of Benjamin flying up the wing leaving trails of flame behind him and chasing down everbody has got me VERY excited. we know he is super quick and i just hope he can learn to slow down a bit and compose himself to kick. (i havent seen him in a long time so can somebody update us as to how his skills are now) I can just see if he starts getting a senior spot him becoming one of my favourite players... he'll never overtake murphy though. i am pretty sure i am in love with that man. haha

Is he still injured? Cuz we could use speed around the ground. He has bulked up a lot

Saw him outside the ground before the game on Sunday. Was surprised he didn't look a bit bigger.

young players which i think wont make it and may get delisted over the next couple of years....
Hartlett (he obviously doesn't have the talent, good vfl player, wouldnt want him being our next great hope for a CHF)
Edwards (again his a fringe player at best, if we're going to become a good team i dont want him in our forward line not talented enough, shit version of fisher)
JR (seriously hope he makes it but in another few seasons, new high draft picks/more quality recruits his days are numbered)
Jackson (again blues fans think his awesome because he had 1 good game on an aging rob harvery, again more high draft picks in the next few seasons he will be lucky to be on the list)
Blackwell (too slow for afl sadly)
austin (dont like his lateral movement, u can tell which players have talent he hasnt, would have to work extremely hard to get a look in for our senior squad)

While we're at I would chop Saddington, wiggins, hoops, Ackland, aisake at the end of the year

bit negative but just my opinion, list still needs to turned over a fair bit.

But we still have many other young ones that will make it, plus through in a few high draft picks over the next couple of years and possibly another high quality trade/pre season pick and we will have a premiership list in about 2-4 years.

I was going to take you up on this - ask you your thoughts and why - but then I read "delist hoops" and realised you dont know what your talking about so dont worry about - cheers.

Back from Belgium and tearing up the Board. Worked your card off too I see.

That wasn't me : it was some fanatical carlton supporter called sigfreid from the congo who hacked my account - some rubber barron wanting to stay incognito due to a long family history with king leopold-.......

or something.

Whoever he was - gee he was right on the money about the pies - so no hard feelings.

Delist houlihan - fft.

Reckon you'd swap all the frothies in Bruges to be there last Sunday. Every supporter is walking round puffed up like a pigeon this week. Stirring stuff.

Which other club bar richmond and melbourne would he get a game at?
Seriously, would he get a game at geelong? of course not...

Im just looking towards our premiership team in the next few years and i dont see hoops in it....maybe as a depth player.

thats my opinion, at the moment he can still get a game with us, hopefully in a few years time he wont.

The hawks made some tough decisions when they were culling their list, same thing will happen with us, dont see why this is such a shock future delistment to you?

Was tempted to divert the whole plane .... am looking at using a spare return ticket for a game or two later in the season......finals ? Next 5 weeks will determine my suntan.

I would really love to see:

1) Benji play senior games.
2) Aisake and Setanta play seniors together.

Benji and Aisake have been listed for a while. Need to see what they have to offer.

Love to see these blokes have a run also. Benji and aisake probably deserve one.

PLEASE DELIST Houlihan!!...........I reckon he still sleeps with the lights on! Our backline stood up so outstandingly against the pies! Why was this - was it because Houlihan wasn’t there?? I can assure you we didn’t miss his lack of endeavor!!

Dennis Armfield.
Is really quick and has fantastic skill levels. His body is right as he worked as a concreter since he was 14. His mentality is awesome, trying his best in training, being very vocal with the boys, definitely one to watch in the future.

Mark Austin
My buddy for 2008. Although he's a year or two away i think he'll slot in nicely into our defence and give us some much needed strength and height down back. Made his debut last year and dis some good things, hopefully we can develop him into a class backman.

The houlihan issue has been done to death - the issue simply filters the muppets - johnny come lately's and/or those who should be concentrating on their times tables -

He is our longest serving player, one of the best kicks in our team, sublime user of the ball, well built MANS body, great mark awesome goal sense etc,etc,etc....

kids - if your going to come on here making grandiose statements about our team at least take the blinkers off and watch the game over the course of a few seasons rather than jumping ont he band wagon with strawberry pancakes.

YES - houlihan is an outside reciever, if this makes him soft like stevens, and half the other players in the afl then so be it - but that is where he has played his whole carreer - this is not the only attribute required in AFl -

"Delisting Houlihan" is the number one sign that your understanding of the game is somewhere between Scottish Grouse shooting and tadpole collecting holidays at Inverlock with your strange uncle....

Its great to have you around but seriously.......delist houlihan.......

I totally and utterly disagree with this post.

Houla is a good player, not great but good. There's no way you can seriously say that other players like Bannister and Russell deserve a spot on the list ahead of Houla.

totally agree only children would would make these daft comments
he has a place in this team
having said that he may find it hard in the next cupla years

The suggestion of delisting Houla is not sound list management. While I agree he may not be part of a Premiership Team, he at the moment a very skillful and creative player. When Walker returns Houla (after injury)will play forward/mid and we will see his true assets to the team.

Also, the suggestion of Houla not making starting line-up in other sides is equally a big mistake. Team balance etc play huge roles in selections, but more to the point there are few more skilled players than Houla.

As for Benji...................he is only in his second season and definately worth sticking with. The upside is huge, especially when he gets some consistancy in his football.

Austin........should be viewed as a first year player now, he was the youngest player drafted from that draft. I think he only made it by a couple of days.

Hartlett........yes the jury is out, but I think he will make it if he can stay injury free. He went over the top against Richmond, but I feel he brings real aggression to our team: something we lack!

The thing that won us the game on sunday was our agression which turned our defence to gold. Bryce gibbs had 8 tackles in that game something he hasnt done this season i think he had 4 tackles in 3 games previously. Hartlett could add to the agression and could fire other people up.
