Hey John. Please tell the boys to stop dragging the ball in under them. Hard to get it out again with 3 opponents sitting on top of you. How many times did we get pinged for HTB like this?
Quite a few of those times it was a professional move... gave us time to get set up...

Have i got an exciting proposition for you! We are selling our shiny brand new first round draft pick. All for the low low price of one Papley. Act now and we will throw in a second round draft pick, free of charge!!

Dam i wish we got him a few years ago. What a star he is.

Glad you guy's won, hope the Swans go all the way and win the lot.
Yes, SOS, the magical list manager offers pick 9 but wants a 2nd back. Loser.

Kenny is alive, not very well but he has not passed away.
If you see him, pass on the regards of a fellow passionate swans fan...

He is/was a symbol of the changing times in Sydney, when the fans grew from nothing and no-one, to die hard fanatics who attended every game and travelled to away games.

I wish him and his wife all the very best...

Go bloods!

The morning after and I think I'm still drunk. I know I'm definitely in disbelief at what unfolded in this game.

For starters, that was a coaching masterclass. Possibly the best use of the long bomb I've seen in a game, and never did I imagine that it would work against Melbourne of all teams. We basically took the gamble of getting it forward at all costs, gaining territory, hoping our players could halve or win the contests in the pack, pressure at ground level to lock the ball in our front half, and then score from the ensuing turnover. It didn't work perfectly - May & Petty were still threatening in the air - but it worked enough to get us the win. Unbelievable when you think about it.

  • Florent is just cool as a cucumber these days. So silky, so composed. He's playing like a veteran now, owning big plays in big moments and managing to pull them off. So relieved his ankle is OK as what he and Fox do for our ground level rebounding at half back is so pivotal.
  • Horse might've given away that future captaincy isn't for Rowbottom, but my God does he play like one. This kid is going to will us to a flag one day. He's also just a very smart footballer. His reading of packs and where to position himself to either crumb the loose ball or tackle the bloke who gets the loose ball is unmatched in our team. It's why he just constantly feels involved in the contest, whether he's getting the ball or not.
  • I never want to hear that Lloyd isn't hard enough. I just love the way he goes about it. Absolutely whacked by Harmes, doesn't remonstrate, doesn't make a fuss, just gets up casually and takes his 50. It's the same kind of Bloods-like modesty that made him casually slot that goal from the angle earlier on.
  • Stephens was very impressive, particularly in the first half. Poised, using his leg speed, hitting targets. You know he's really comfortable at the level now that he is actually using his vision to assess the whole field rather than focusing on the moment and the play right in front of him.
  • I didn't like the rhetoric of "they did so well without their stars playing well". It just misses the whole point of why we've become such a complete, rounded team - we don't have just a few weapons, we have many. If a few don't get you, a few others will. I never subscribed to the media hype pre-game about how it was only going to be Buddy or Warner who shone in this contest, and felt like it showed how little they really understand our team.

Anyway, apologies for the long and drawn out post. I am ******* ecstatic and so ******* proud of this club and everyone involved in it.

i think it's september 24

Awesome night. Ended up spending about half my wage yesterday at the bottle shop a couple of minutes after I finished work because I bought some expensive beers and then the campaigners roped me in with gin testing they were doing. Ended up being entirely worth it. Had a few drinks and cones with the dad and brother.

Maybe it was the intoxicants, but so much of our game last year screamed Premiership team to me. Hadn't really felt that was since 2012, even when we were arguably a more dominant side. Club is building something extremely special.

So much upside - Warner, Buddy, Heeney, Blakey, Gulden, and McInerney have much more to give.

Florent, Stephens, Fox, and Rowbottom played pretty much career best games given the stakes. I'd even say Lloyd did.

Need more time to think about who I'd give MVP votes to - probably Mills, Parker, Hickey, Lloyd, and Rowbottom. Reid and Florent incredibly unlucky. Huge team effort.

Not to be a downer but I hope the extra week off doesn't effect us too much
Overrated problem IMO. All but one Premier since 2016 won their Qualifying Final. 3/5 of those teams dominated their Preliminary Final too.

yeah who knows , always hard to judge the skipper role without being in the club.

Mills always seemed destined to be captain and Heeney not for example imo and not even sure I can explain why.

Heeney will probably be skipper next year now
I just think Heeney has such a high profile already that adding formal leadership wasn’t likely to add to his off field contribution.

I worry how it will effect our youngsters though. They need continuity. We looked to have our usual post-bye scratchiness for large parts of this game, particularly in the first half before we settled a little. Though I guess a portion of that scratchiness would have to be attributed to Melbourne's pressure and the fact our boys were likely nervous being in a final and all...

Guess we just have to hope and trust our coaches and conditioning staff will prepare the team perfectly for another break.

Florent played like an elite half back flanker last night, he has the attributes to reach that level and has been so dependable since moving back there
Best bit is that they can tag Lizard to stop his run but then Florent hits them with his evasiveness and kicking. Our team is developing so many weapons across the various lines. It is really hard to stop our avenues of attack.

Well … with the risk of suspension, I do have a query over Logan. IMHO he and Buddy both work better when they spend time up the ground. I think there is an argument for Amartey as someone who can stay close to goals and take a pack mark, or bring the ball to ground.

no ... it's not just about the specific position, even though i think you're wrong about replacing mcdonald
but this is a settled team ... whatever mcdonald is doing is not hurting the team, but take him out and you unsettle a team for no reason
this is not the time of the year to make any unnecessary changes ... in a team that's just won eight on the trot!

Was that the offer? Dam Sos, good thing he's no longer our list manager. Not that it matters now, but wasn't it Essendon who messed up the arrangements?
I will always remember that offer. The Audacity to ask for a 2nd rounder back was arrogant. They paid a high first rounder straight out for a player who is having less impact. Then they tried to get Papley as well for a packet of Samboys. Carlton can go and get ****ed.

BT is diabolical these days but he absolutely nailed this play from start to finish.

The gap between BT’s best and worst is enormous, and he spends most of his time somewhere near his worst.

That was a great call by BT but he spent most of his time blatantly barracking against Sydney and clearly has a chip on his shoulder with our team. Maybe it’s because we blocked him from entering our dressing rooms a few years back?
