We will beat Port Adelaide

Spot on. Hinkley has created a magnificent two-way mindf@#k here.

Anyway I can't wait for this game, it will be a cracker. Hawthorn seem to have a strong following here in Adelaide so I wouldnt be surprised to see 50,000 rock up.

Gee whiz port supporters are going pretty hard on here, what have they achieved again.

No doubt Burgess is impressive, he has made port AFL level, which they clearly weren't when he came in. So he was at Liverpool and Socceroos? We all know how successful Liverpool have been, the Richmond of the EPL, and the Socceroos didn't win a game at the last World Cup.

The have a reason to be excited, but Hawthorn have been on the cutting edge for years now, and we have 2 premierships to show for it.

As for this game, think it's a bridge too far. Port are full strength at home and hawks missing 4 of their top 5 players.

Port might be underdone in the ruck stocks with their injuries, plus Susan got subbed out for them after little to no impact

That's where I thought we had the advantage over the Swans but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way

Ok guys implying port are on something is just wrong. I worked there for two years and had full view of there training for both years, one with Primus and one with Kenny. From day one Kenny and Burgo turned that club around, they were a rable with Primus. It was obvious just watching training, overnight the club became a professional sporting team.

Burgo is a jet and is more advanced than anyone in the AFL.....don't underestimate their talent either with so many early picks they were always going to come good in the right environment

Pointing fingers at Port and Burgess suggesting they are operating outside the rules lacks class and is ungracious - clubs can obtain a competitive edge through excellence, as Hawthorn have done through brilliant recruiting of elite left footers, or employing someone such as Burgess who is the best in his field. In addition, illegal supplement programs are generally characterised by muscle building and the port players are about the leanest in the AFL - they have been trained to run above all else.

Agree. It is poor form by Hawks supporters and we would be filthy if roles were reversed.

Burgo picked port....port didn't pick him so they were lucky in that respect. Kenny a bit of old school they needed and last man standing so lucky to get him. Fair bit of luck involved but good people their that work hard so not undeserved...

Don't worry about the negative remarks mate..possibly all done with tongue in cheek. Port are exceptional at what they do and I love Hinkleys mantra 'in this game you get what you deserve!' Absolut champion of a bloke.

So I noticed. Apparently they had the third youngest team this week after Melbourne & GWS yet they're running out games better than any team in the competition. Absolutely nothing suspicious about that, seems perfectly normal.

This sort of crap epitomises why hawk supporters on bf are hated
Thank god you don't speak for all of us

Totally agree, this garbage has no place here.
Oh dear Bosk I can't believe you thought anyone outside the Bay would take you seriously!

I'll just let myself out now before this silly s***fight derails this thread.

Good luck Hawthorn, should be an absolute belter, here's hoping it will be one of the matches of the minor round :thumbsu:

You're an embarrassment bosk.

As for the game I'm disappointed that you guys are so depleted. It would have done our young side a great deal of good and we would have learnt plenty.

Hopefully it's a great game and good luck for the rest of the season guys.
Here's hoping for no injuries and a great game! I still think Hawks should give a good account of themselves but you guys are flying ATM. Can't wait though.

Wow.

I sure hope the PAFC first 22 are reading this, because if you ever wanted your opponents to go into a game overconfident and pumped full of their just recent achievements, this thread is how you bait it.....
Hawk posters, you guys are the best! Keep telling the world how forlorn we are minus some champs and filler, underdone, undermanned, etc, and how great Port are, how fast, etc..

I've got no doubt Port could win, but as a longtime Hawk supporter and watching our professional demeanor over the last 2 seasons, I'm going into the game as a believer in our chances. Believe in the players, believe in the game plan, believe in our history.

Hawks by 16 points.

We'll win?
Nope.

On current form we'll lose at least 1, maybe 2 key players to injury or stupid suspension.

We'll play shit footy & let them get a start, then battle hard to get back in it, only to lose it doing the same dumb shit that lost us for us in the first place.

Go Hawks...

It's good to hear imput from someone who was there to see the changes & turnaround, thanks :thumbsu:

Bosk will be questioning Hafey taking Collingwood from bottom to a GF appearance in one season next

The biggest problem recently has been not winning the ball in the middle. Losing Sammy sucks but don't underestimate what Hodge, Sewell and Shiels could add (if they line up). Cheney might go out for Spangher leaving Schoenmakers forward. Grimley or TOB to come in for Roughead. Weird team but we could get it together with more poise in the middle.

Clarko seemed pretty pissed off post game last week. No matter what they will come out firing in Adelaide. Could actually be a cracker of a game.

I suspect the first quarter will be focused on particularly because Port are fit so no chance of over-running them.

I am taking my 6 year old son to his first Hawks game so we had better win!

His blank Hawks jumper (used to have 23 on it) now has 19 on it :)
I am taking my 4 yo daughter to her first game and she is rapt. I hope we win but we have a BIG list of BIG outs and Port are flying. We need to win the game or we will be starting to worry about our position in the top 4. We really want top 2 as it is looking likely that Port and Geelong will be in there and we don't really want Geelong week 1 of the finals and we don't want to be playing Port in Adelaide for a first final either. Neither are ideal circumstances.

Falling 2 games behind Port and Geelong after rd 10 would put top 2 in serious peril, so the Hawks just need to find a way to win.
