Eriksen was superb, amazing no one else went after him

What I find confusing is that he went to a side that wasn't in CL especially when alot of those clubs were after him. Don't get me wrong, Spurs will probably get CL this year and maybe thats why he went but he is tidy, classy player. Would have fit into Arsenal perfectly.

**** me I just watched the Arsenal v Sunderland highlights and Atkinson has had an absolute nightmare. Granted Arsenal should have put the game to bed well before the Altidore incident but bloody hell, that is some poor refereeing. You put the whistle to your mouth, check if their is an advantage. Their clearly was, you let play go on, once you have given advantage, it's up to Altidore to score, if he doesnt too bad. But to blow straight away when Altidore has gotten clean through was horrible. Then for Sagna not to be sent off when he is clearly last man back and clearly preventing a goal scoring opportunity because well Altidore scored.

Just horrible stuff. Arsenal got pretty lucky there.

It's funny how football can change though isnt it. Arsenal were in crisis apparently. Havent bought anyone, got beat 3-1 on opening day. Calls for Wenger's head on a pike on the city gates. A few weeks later everyone is suddenly touting them as potential champions. :D

Im not sure they are title contenders, they have gotten better with the signing of Ozil for sure as he would make any side better but they are still short up front and a bit suspect at the back. Wins against Sunderland and Fulham who will both be shite this season wouldnt be anything to write home about.

I think the title is still a three horse race between Utd, City and Chelsea with 4th spot being a three horse race between us, Arsenal and Spurs.

I wish we would have signed Ozil though. Would be glorious, front three of Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez with Ozil just behind them. GOOOAAAALLLSSSS. Sad times.

I've not seen the replay but if Altidore scored you cant send someone off for denying a goal scoring opportunity.
Well you have to because he whistled for a foul and brought the play back to the edge of the box, despite Altidore going clean through and scoring. The goal didnt stand, he brought the play back. That is a clear goal scoring opportunity because, as I said, he scored haha. Sagna should have gotten sent off.

Fair enough. I thought you meant Altidore had actually scored.

Atkinson had blown the whistle for a foul long before the ball was put in the back of the net.

When he blows for the foul they're heading away from goal and if you'd stopped the game there you'd never send someone off for that.

Erm it's right on the edge of the box. Sagna is the only one stopping Altidore going one on one with the keeper. It's a straight red in my book.

Sunderland were unlucky not to have the goal stand, the advantage wasn't given when really it should've been.
Agreed. Arsenal still probably would have gone on and won the game but at that point of the game, it should have been 2-2. It's all history now but I did feel for Sunderland. It would have made the last 15 mins or so interesting.

The initial foul wasn't right outside the box at all. It may have finished there but it's not where it started. Clear yellow for mine. Agree that the ref should have allowed play to continue though

Swansea LFC tmrw morning.
Any of you seen much of Swansea this season how have they gone?

Pretty tough start for them with games against United, Spurs, West Brom and now us. They've strengthened well over the off season and you'd think they'll be a more difficult prospect this season, their recent results don't reflect their actual level in my opinion. Having said that, we've got enough quality all over the park to expect that if everyone is focused and on their game, we should be taking the 3 points. I'm anticipating that we'll have a significant advantage in midfield in particular as I can't see Shelvey, Canas & Michu being able to match Gerrard, Lucas & Coutinho/Henderson. Bony will be a handful but I'm confident that any combination of Agger, Sakho, Toure or Skrtel should be able to contain him.

But its not stopping a clear goalscoring opportunity when the origional foul occured.

I agree 100% that its a bad call, advantage should have been played and that's the biggest problem with the Advantage rule, its so inconsistantly applied.

Was a chance today with McGregor injury but not too sure we'll put Harper on, would be a great touch though.

If he makes the bench, he'll more than likely get a louder cheer than any NUFC player when they announce the teams during the warm up :)

Was Harper on the bench for his testimonial?

Pretty sure he started the game but was subbed off for Given from memory.
