True, probably has many admirers. There was talk of us trying to extend his contract, hopefully we can get that done ASAP.

Honestly think of all our 'star' players, he would be the one least likely to leave, seems to genuinely love the fans and club. Wouldn't be too bad to be adored by 52,000 geordies!

Without wanting to get too far ahead of myself, we have a decent enough best 11 just very little in the way of depth. If we could keep the team fit and playing this 4-3-3, we could have another good season like we did 2 seasons ago.

Of course none of us believe we can win the league (right), but it's still bloody stupid to say it

Yep I remember FAITH - he was definitely getting linked to other clubs but as far as I know, never came out and said he wanted to go (like Cabaye did). Even his most recent interviews, he seems to be thriving on the added responsibility of being 'the main man' at the club.

From memory, Liverpool were only going to offer peanuts for him which is probably why nothing eventuated on that front - I think I read you were reluctant to offer closer to what we valued him at due to his injury proneness. I think at the time there was talk of us wanting Carroll back maybe in a swap but obviously he went to the hammers.

Monaco's interest mainly came from their Director of football saying they wanted to bring back French internationals back to the French league. For whatever reason, they didn't make any concrete moves for him, Debuchy, Cabaye, Sissoko during the transfer window (maybe they spent all they could afford?).

Honestly, where is this idea that Liverpool supporters all think that they're going to win the title every season coming from? I don't think I've heard any Liverpool fan talking about us being a realistic shot at the title since 2009/10.

As for Aspas;

Personally I've got no problems with the players making that their ambition, in fact I'd be annoyed if it wasn't. Our players should be aiming to win every single competition they take part in and if they're not then they shouldn't be at the club. Similarly I'm sure United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal players would be aiming to win the Champions League even though deep down they probably know that they have very little chance of winning it.

it gets ignored a fair bit that players regularly get misquoted, lost in translation or stuff is just plainly made up and spread around social media. always needs to be kept in mind.

Got to be really careful with the Goal player ratings. It depends on which person gives the ratings and a lot of it is highly subjective.

Bollocks. Haven't spoken to a single LFC fan who thinks we are anywhere near fighting for the title. Most would be happy with 5th and have a good crack at the top 4. Personally I think we will finish 6th.
